A lovely place but NOT for small children. The track is a steep hill and they are very strict on the no car rule. It's nearly an hour trip to walk back to your car with a wheel barrow, load the wheelbarrow and lug it back down to the camp site. We were a pretty fit group but found it... More

I was working in the area, and rather than come home each night (a four hour round trip) I decided to stay two nights in a Hostel. The one I usually used was sold out so for the first time I decided to try this one. I am so glad that I did. The actual hostel is about three quarters... More

What can I say of this place that can make justice to its uniqueness and Andy's (the keeper) kindness? After a disgraceful experience with a rental car from #easirent booked through #easycar (sorry, no record of those two businesses to leave a review), Andy did totally save the day! He not only waited for us at the hostel until midnight... More

I really enjoyed staying here. It has a cosy, homely feel and the hosts were welcolming. There is no car park, so you have to park in a National Trust car park and take a 10 minute walk through the woods to get to the Hostel. Ok in day time, but would be scary at night! The toilet and shower... More

Having found this location via the YHA website, I decided it would be a great place to spend a few peaceful days "away from it all". I never actually got there.... The phone was never answered, and having spent an hour or so trying to find the place, I was finally told that there is no vehicular access. This is... More

Thanks for your comments. I have reviewed the information on the website and made sure that that the first line of 'Need to know' states "The hostel is only accessible by foot." Normally if no one is available to answer the phone it will go to answer machine and we will call back as soon as we get the message.... More

As title suggests, this place is well and truly off the main road and if you are travelliing by foot from boxhill & westhumble station as my daughters and i did then it would be very easy to get lost in the woods if travelling at night..... As we did. Once you have found the campsite, it makes up for... More

Very secluded hostel. Two ways of getting there by foot - no cars allowed. One from main road is about 1 mile and goes downhill ( uphill on the way back!) The other a bit shorter & goes thru a valley then up a very poor dirt track on he way to Polesden Lacey Not so good in winter when... More

We only stayed a night here but it was excellent. Beautiful setting; the surrounding area is lovely, lots of scenic walks around. The campsite itself is down a long track that I imagine is a bit inaccessible in the winter months, and as you aren't allowed to leave your car down overnight it has to been driven to the top... I stayed in this beautiful traditional hostel with a friend in the Spring. We hiked in from Box Hill and Westhumble station, which was a couple of miles away (3/4 of the way on a country road, the last bit through a field and up a rough track). The hostel building is a beautiful cottage, set in woodland and fields... More
