We stayed for one night at The Jockey Club Rooms on Friday 29th April.
It’s an absolute privilege & an honour to be able to stay at essentially the HQ of racing - which is steeped in history & grandeur.
Our stay was faultless!
The room was lovely, the staff were extremely helpful and the breakfast was unsurpassable.
In addition, Mark gave us a personal tour of the rooms and gardens. We really enjoyed learning about the history of the art & also the racing curiosities!
Thank you Mark, you were fantastic!

Booked as a post-Christmas treat, and what a treat it was! As lifetime horse racing enthusiasts we have had many memorable stays in Newmarket, and this is right up there at the very top. We stayed in Room 12, a spacious, bright room, the walls adorned with horse racing prints and with wonderful views overlooking the gardens. The king size bed provided us with a wonderful nights sleep. The bathroom, with it’s huge freestanding bath and Asprey toiletries was just luxurious. Breakfast was served in the Members dining room. All the usual breakfast options were available and we received friendly, attentive service from Bruno. The full English was delicious - premium quality ingredients perfectly cooked. After breakfast we went for a leisurely wander around the rooms and took in the many stunning, historical horse racing works of art, sculpture and memorabilia. A special mention for Charlotte, who was extremely welcoming and helpful. Nothing was too much trouble and we very much appreciated her showing us around the Kings Suite. Cannot recommend the Jockey Club rooms enough. Amazing value for money and we will definitely be making a return visit!

Very classy place to stay and in a great location right on Newmarket high street. Our room (no 1) was very large with a comfy queen bed, armchair, dressing table and chair, wardrobe and a french door to the gardens. The bathroom with large bath and shower cubicle is as large as the bedroom. I recommend room 1, or another ground floor room to have access right out into the gardens. Dressing gowns and slippers are provided as well as mineral water and the usual soap, shampoo, etc. There is a 32” TV and elegant furnishings. We had breakfast here and you would not want to miss the experience! The walk from room to breakfast room is along a corridor lined with pictures of Jockey Club members and there are some interesting paintings as well. The member’s room we had breakfast in was very, very grand, and the staff were very helpful, friendly and professional. The check in was very easy, and there is plenty of free parking on-site. The only things I would mention are: no evening meal is available, but there are pubs and restaurants very close buy, and the WiFi was a little slow compared to what we have experienced at other hotels recently. Both minor points really as the overall experienced makes them very insignificant. Highly recommended, both as a nice place to stay overnight, and as an interesting experience.

Just exactly as we remembered from our visit last July!
This is a beautiful, tranquil place to stay yet the high street, gallops, pubs, museum, etc.. are all just moments away on foot! The accommodation is beautiful with immaculate garden grounds and a walk through the jockey club rooms with all their art and history are not to be missed by anyone interested in horse racing. We can’t fault this place in any way.
Breakfast is a fantastic experience - the service and quality of the food is really outstanding. The jockey club rooms have spoiled us for anywhere else - I’m not convinced that we would get the same experience anywhere else within our budget.
Last year we visited the racing museum and yesterday we went to the National Stud. Both highly recommended, value for money and most informative.
We will be back next year. Don’t change a thing - it’s all perfect!

We travelled down from Scotland on our first visit to Newmarket. We treated ourselves to a stay here to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were not one bit disappointed!
Our accommodation in room 2 was excellent and very comfortable indeed. A beautiful, luxury bedroom and bathroom with a French door leading out to the garden, exceeded our expectations. It was also spotlessly clean and they took every Covid 19 precaution.
Breakfast was probably of the best quality we have ever had in any hotel and the French gentleman who looked after us was most charming and knowledgeable about the history of the club.
After breakfast each day we were able to visit the jockey club rooms. This was such a privilege! We felt very lucky to be educated on the history of the club, view the paintings, bronzes and trophies. It was a thrill to see both antique and contemporary artwork. I was very moved when I saw the huge portrait of Sir Henry Cecil.
For us this was a magical few days. My husband is not particularly horsey and only knows a little about racing but he loved this place and learned so much! I would recommend a stay here to anyone. If you are a racing enthusiast, then you cannot miss a stay here - it's fascinating. The location is so central, you can walk to the gallops and many of the racing stables. Everyone says hello to you on the gallops and we got a friendly hello and a wave from Sir Mark Prescott.
If you are reading this, don't hesitate, just book and enjoy as we did!

We had a 2 night stay in the King’s Suite and had requested plates, cutlery and glasses as we wanted to order takeaways. When we checked in it was all set out on the table of our sitting room. Both the bedroom and sitting room are gorgeous. Pure luxury. Whiter than white big fluffy towels and cosy robes in the enormous bathroom. Twin sinks and a big shower closet and huge bath. You really couldn’t ask for more. The bed was very comfortable and we slept well. Very quiet. Breakfast was served in a stunning location and was extremely good. The staff were helpful and professional ensuring you had everything you needed. There is a lot of horse racing artworks and photos lining the walls including a beautiful portrait of the Queen. We will certainly come back. We had takeaways fromTurkoman and Rose & Mango restaurants both of which we would recommend. Thank you to everyone at the Rooms for a wonderful weekend.

Recently stayed in the jockey club rooms on a visit to Newmarket
We couldn’t fault it.
Grounds are lovely and beautifully maintained. Rooms were very spacious,
especially the bathroom which was amazing.
Everything was spotless.
Very good breakfast, in the original coffee shop which is a lovely room. The staff couldn’t do enough to help.
A special mention to Charlotte, who is a credit to the hotel.
Thank you for a lovely stay.

This was our first stay here and also our first stay since pre lockdown. The grounds are just beautiful. Reception and check in was fantastic it felt safe and clean with all the COVID situation we felt extremely comfortable and were impressed with the efforts the staff had put in place. Our room was beautiful on the ground floor leading out to the beautiful garden area. The bathroom was huge and it was spotless. It was probably the hottest day of the year and yes there is no aircon in the room but we did have a fan and this didn’t ruin our stay one bit. Breakfast was beautiful again fantastic measures put in place given the situation and the staff were all amazing. Location is fantastic definitely have a trip up to the gallops and have a good look round the building as if you are into racing there are some fantastic things to be seen.

What a fabulous place, steeped in horseracing history and full of old world charm. The staff were lovely and nothing was too much trouble. Our room (room 8) was very well appointed, overlooking the beautiful garden, and was so quiet and serene. The toiletries were wonderful (from Asprey's) and the breakfast sumptuous, with a choice of cereals, continental breakfast and breakfast cooked to order. I didn't much like the bacon served with the cooked breakfast as it was smoked and very salty, but that's just me. I adored the Eggs Royale though which was top notch. The staff were kind enough to take us on a quick tour of the members' rooms, full of original paintings (including a very valuable Stubbs) of horseracing scenes) and interesting historical artefacts. It was wonderful. Being a lover of horses and horse racing, I felt privileged to be on such hallowed turf. The accommodation rates were very reasonable too. I 100% recommend!
