Uncomfortable single bed, room above the pub smoking shelter, so I might as well have smoked! Plug socket by the bed didn't work. Ensuite filthy, toilet seat did not fit the toilet, shower pipe absolutely minging, black with soap scum. Old fashioned & filthy carpets. Give this place a VERY wide berth, I almost slept in the car!

Firstly, if you are coming by public transport this is a terrible place to stay - not least because there were no taxis at the station! However this wasn't the hotels fault, and when I got there, soaked through from waiting in the rain, they were welcoming and helpful, chatting whilst I had a drink to calm down at the... More

Me and two work colleagues stayed here for a week while working in the area. The downstairs bar and restaurant area was very nice and looked like it had been recently done up. For the price of the rooms was very good value for money. The shower was powerful and hot in room 1 where I stayed. The only negative... More

4 of went for Sunday lunch . As I and my partner arrived early , we thought we would have a drink whilst waiting . I popped to the loo and there was no soap for hand washing . We ordered our drinks and overheard a snappy exchange between the owners , which doesn't give a good impression . We... More

When I booked I assumed it was a B&B, it turns out that it is not. It does come up when you search for B&Bs. From other reviews I am not the only one to make this mistake. When I asked about Breakfast I was told that the chef was off but I could have £5 to go into Newmarket.... More

Booked a twin room, as we were attending a hospitality day at Newmarket races, had to call late to try to book a second room, and they were really accommodating offering us the last room at a discount price, which was really appreciated due to the late notification . Arrived to check in and had a few minutes wait until... More

After a nice long walk my friend and I stopped for lunch, had a very warm welcome by the landlord and the food was delicious, home made by the new chef Doug.. We will also be going back to try the Sunday lunch...

Although living locally we've never set foot in the Wheatsheaf but it's gone straight to the top of our list of places to visit on a rainy Sunday afternoon. The Roast dinner was lovely- you can pay a little more for 'extras' so we had plenty of food to keep us going! Great staff, nice surroundings, reasonably priced. The only... More

I Stayed visiting friends in Newmarket and couldn't be happier with value for money, it was clean, tidy, great food and drink!!! Happy staff that couldn't have been more helpful. Newly redone restaurant and bar area, great village pub under new management.
