Visited the Crown recently with friends for a late birthday celebration. We had a lovely evening and a very good meal. The wine wasn't bad either. The restaurant has a lovely ambience overlooking a courtyard garden. It was almost full which surprised me on a midweek evening. Having said that the service was prompt without being rushed. I thoroughly recommend... More

I came here for lunch 13 years ago whilst on a much needed weekend break. The memories I had of fabulous food and great atmosphere from that moment in time were still the same all these years later. The staff were very friendly and efficient. The atmosphere was of relaxed sophistication and the food was stunning. I had deep fried... More

We had travelled from Cirencester and had a very spacious room on the ground floor of the annexe which was comfortable and well appointed. We had a great extended breakfast in the dining room. We did not stay for very long but would recommend as a stopover.

We were going to my nephew's wedding at Kentwell Hall and booked four rooms, two doubles,a twin and a single. All were in the original building, the doubles, rooms 1 and 2 fronting on to the high street,Room 8 and room 4. Room 2 was by far the largest room with the firmest bed. They were all clean and neat, the... More

Is it an Inn, a Hotel, a Restaurant, a Bar? It is all four! A brilliant place to stay in the delightful and historic town of Long Melford. Well done to all of the staff for making our stay so memorable.

My better half and I stayed here for my pre-birthday weekend in April. Being a fan of the 90's series, Lovejoy, I had always wanted to visit this picturesque and pretty part of the country and we decided my birthday would be a good time to do it. The Crown is a great place and the food was spot-on, with... More

Stayed in room 14 for one night with our trainee guide dog. Made to feel welcome, room was obviously recently refurbished and in superb order. Lovely shower room, all clean and well presented. Dinner in the bar ( because of our GD pup ) was perfect. My Pork belly was the best I have ever had, and my wife's lasagne... More

Visiting family and friends, we again stayed three nights. As usual, the staff were everything we wanted without any of the pretentions that many hotels seem to adopt. If you want a warm welcome, in a comfortable hotel, this is it!

Lovely old (about 1610) inn. Modernized but could use a little more help eg single mixed water tap versus old fashioned two taps on either side of sink. Staff were VERY friendly and helpful. Joe carried all our bags (we had 5 large suitcases as traveling for 2-months) up and back next day. Breakfast was excellent. Room was large. Location... More

Our room was reasonably sized, adequately equipped and quite cosy; it was quite cold outside during our stay. The radiator did tend to bump and bang during our first night there! There were few refinements, but it is a pub/hotel after all and the building is obviously quite old. The bathroom did need some attention but I have seen much... More
