This is by no means a 5 stars hotel, but what it lacks in modern gadgets it certainly makes up for with the friendly staff and the building character. Free wifi, clean rooms, great location near the station and good food, all in all, good value for money.

Think we've found a new go to place in BSE away from the crowds at Edmundo's! Went to The Bushel on a hot Saturday lunchtime and the place was almost empty which is usually a bad sign. But fear not! The staff were very welcoming and accommodated my wife's dietary requirements. They have a good selection of beers and lagers... More

We stopped here for a drink on Monday 18th of July, then the hottest day of the year. It was almost empty on a Monday afternoon; perhaps not surprising. Nonetheless it was very comfortable with plenty of space to sit. While we were there we decided to try the whitebait with chilli mayonnaise. Interesting but we would have preferred plain... More

Found The pub after looking round Bury St Edmunds, at 5pm Saturday 4th June. attracted to meal deal sign two course meal with wine £32. Was nice and quiet and sat in restaurant side, served a beautiful med/rare Aberdeen angus steak, followed by eton cheesecake.and a bottle of wine. Really nice, as was my other half's birthday. As it turned... More

In a central position and with its own parking, this is a great place to stay. The rooms were small but comfortable and very clean. The sevice was excellent, with very friendly and helpful staff. From the time we arrived we were made to feel welcome. Adam, the manager, hasn't been there very long and is keen to make sure... More

Had the best time at the bushel! There were 5 of us staying the night there and we had a table booked for 11 people. The rooms were great, really nice and ideal location for going into town. The staff were great and especially Lewis who really got into spirit with us and made the meal really memorable!! Breakfast was... More

Use this hotel three of four times a year for business when visiting a local customer. Rooms in the pub itself are better being bigger than the ones at the back (an old stable block, I think) however for a short visit they are just fine. Breakfast is made to order and is generally pretty good. Food in the pub... More
