This is a basic budget style hotel. It offered excellent VFM when we stayed over as a family for 2 nights on a visit to Drayton Manor. The hotel was clean, breakfast ok and staff friendly. On the no frills side the apple juice at breakfast is awful, the beds and pillow quality not great and to charge £1.20 for a small choc bar is criminal. Our stay was almost spoilt by several Welsh families who arrived letting their children run uncontrolled around the lower ground floor late in the evening and create havoc at breakfast the following morning.

Great location, nice and clean and very friendly staff. Made to feel welcome and had all the facilities I needed for an overnight business stay. The room next door had a small dog which barked at the slightest noise. I was not aware that dogs could stay in hotel rooms and if it wasn't for that fact I had travelled with ear plugs then my night would have been awful !

We stayed at the Holiday Inn Express, Lichfield on 22/08/19 for one night whilst we visited Drayton Manor theme park. On arrival there were plenty of spaces to park for free. Check in was simple and quick. We are a family of 2 adults, 2 children, ages 5&2. We had requested a cot in our room for our 2 year old which was in place when we arrived to our room. the room had a double bed, a double sofa bed made up for our 5 year old and the travel cot made up also. The bathroom albeit a little small for a family had a shower cubicle, toilet and sink all of which was clean and functional. The beds weren't the most comfortable but for the price we paid I wouldn't expect any better and it was completely adequate for our one night stay. Our children slept well. Our only criticism of the room would be there is no aircon, There was a desk fan provided however there is also only one plug socket so we couldn't keep it plugged in as we needed to charge phones and tablets ready for the following day. The room did get rather hot especially with four in the one relatively small space. there is a window however we had a ground floor room which faced onto the nearby Costa drive through which opened at 5.30am and closed at 9pm. the hotel is also near a busy main road too so the noise would have kept us all up. This wouldnt stop us staying here again though. There is free WIFI available also, a desk with chair and a TV with freeview channels. The hotel staff couldn't be more friendly and helpful. The morning came and we all had showers which worked well. plenty of towels provided for us also. Breakfast was included in the price of our booking (£56.99 for the room and breakfast for 4 is pretty good i thought!). The breakfast was very good, cooked english breakfast items available - sausage, bacon, scrambled egg and beans. bead for toast, jam, butter etc. cereals, fresh fruit and yoghurt. pastries and muffins also. There was also tea, coffee, water and fruit juice availble. Overall we were very impressed for what we got for our money! We will be staying again when we next visit drayton manor or anywhere nearby.

don't go here when dogs are staying, unreal attitude from staff, dogs first, loads of dogs stayed at the hotel, some event was going on, when you get woken at 5 am by dogs barking isn't great, it wasn't one it was 5 or 6 when arriving I checked my car reg in for free parking, then was asked how we would like to pay, I wish I had used my card, I said cash, then was asked to provide identification I always carry my passport and driving licence, another blunder of mine I then asked why, he said in case you trash the room, REALLY I said do I look the type to trash a room. when going to the room there was dog prints on the carpets outside the lifts and on the carpet leaving the lift TRASH ROOMS what about carpets the room was ok, breakfast was fine

Response from IHGService, Guest Relations Manager at Holiday Inn Express Lichfield

Craigveryhappy, If you have stayed at a Holiday Inn Express before, you know that providing unmatched comfort peaks the list of our priorities. From accommodations to service, they should all be spotless. But I'm sorry that this wasn't the case on your visit due to the barking dogs and the issues you had with our staff and hotel cleanliness . To properly attend to these, I deemed it necessary to inform the hotel of your experience. I trust their capacity of taking proper steps to ensure everyone gets a smooth sailing stay. Thank you for your review, and I hope our paths cross again so we can provide you with a much better experience. All the best, Joel A Case Manager IHGService

Stayed here on a Saturday night, as we were going to a friends birthday party in Lichfield. Free parking which is always a bonus(don’t forget to add your cars reg into the screen at reception) The staff from start to finish were friendly & willing to help. Room was your normal Holiday Inn Express room. no air con unfortunately but was comfortable and clean. We didn’t get to breakfast as we didn’t get up in time. Overall we would stay again.
