We thoroughly enjoyed our stay. Staff friendly and attentive. Five course tasting menu, a Christmas present, far exceeded expectations. We are glad we decided to book b&b for the night - it made a very pleasant mini break.

This is history breathing! We would always prefer this nicely performed hotel to any other big high end no-face accomodation. it is only one step away of one of the most exciting historic buildings in the south of england. A must see!

Had a wonderful stay.. bed was comfy and room was clean.. albeit very hot!! Breakfast was freshly cooked and delicious with a choice of full cooked to a bacon butty!!! We will be returning! Wells itself is well worth a visit, minutes away from Glastonbury and the Shopping outlet in Street. The menu for dinner looked divine but we had...

A few things spoilt our stay. I appreciate what new owners are trying to create. Good location. Parking tight spaces. Rooms very clean and comfortable. Good nights sleep in comfy beds. Strange entrance to rooms at back. We had some confusion over our rate which was a special offer, got sorted but shame we had argue the point. Service a...

Our room 15 was on the ground floor, a little dark as it had a balcony above. But the lighting in the room made up for that. Net curtains at Windows gave much privacy & the blinds were almost black out. The bed was very comfortable & the pillows matched the comfort. Room was large enough for a 2 seater...

Position of this hotel is perfect for experiencing the tiny but lovely city of Wells, you are right in the heart of things and most importantly it has a car park. Although there is a charge of £5 a day it is money well spent. We had a 'classic' room which was not huge but adequate and extremely comfortable and...

We had such a lovely weekend break. The bed was comfortable and we loved being able to go downstairs for a really delicious meal and great wine. The room was surprisingly quiet given that it was above a pub. We will go back.

Came here on the seasonal special, stayed overnight right opposite the cathedral, room was lovely and clean. Staff are a credit to the hotel so polite and very helpful. Food is really good/freshand enjoyed every meal. The breakfast has a take on bubble and squeak which is really nice. Would I come back, yes

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
Recently taken over by new owners (September 2015) the 15th century White Hart Hotel is situated in the city centre just 10 short steps from the famous Cathedral. Its 15 en suite bedrooms make the perfect base from which to explore Wells and the surrounding area. The restaurant serves locally sourced British food cooked by Head Chef Matthew Briddon (River Café). Wells is a medieval city nestling on the southern side of the Mendip Hills with the mystic Somerset Levels stretching away to the south and west. The history of Wells goes right back to Roman times when it was known that there was a settlement, probably because of the springs that bubble up here. Wells gets its name from these springs which can today be found in the gardens of the Bishop's Palace. Bristol, Bath, Glastonbury, Glastonbury Tor, Cheddar, Clarks Village, Wells Golf Club and Longleat are all close by. ... more   less
