Just had three nights here with my husband. Hotel is lovely. Fantastic location with all main sites walkable. Beautiful decor, impeccable staff, good food. We were very well looked after. Highly recommend this hotel and its staff. Thank you for a lovely stay.
Stayed for 3 nights. Great hotel , breakfast , accommodation and spa. The staff make this hotel they are so friendly and helpful . Recommend staying there. Central Location. Left something in spa and they returned it via first class post next day. Thank you for a lovely holiday and the massage in Spa with Billy was 1st class, just what I needed. We will be back soon
This is the best hotel I have stayed in the uk. Staff, hotel room, hotel and spa were all brilliant. We fell in love with the place and cannot wait to come back again. We stayed in an executive room and had a nice view out. We also had a great massage at the spa and were treated so nicely.
If you are looking for a luxury hotel stay elsewhere. The only good thing about this hotel, is it’s spa. The rooms are below average, worse than a premiere inn. Bathroom and beds need a refurbish. Some of the hydro pumps at the spa were not working. Needs better care and maintenance for a 5 star.
Overall extremely good experience, pleasant staff and decor. My wife and I booked this hotel as a treat fr our 40th (Ruby) wedding anniversary and never visited Bath before so wanted a good quality hotel to stay in for 3 days. Overall we weren’t disappointed except for a couple of minor things which for a 5* small luxury hotel I believe shouldn’t be the case. We stayed in room 314, one of our full length curtains didn’t close at the top which caused a very bright ray of morning light to enter early mornings. The towel rail did not work, there was no full length mirror which didn’t please my wife and there was no clock. There didn’t appear to be staff lifts, as on more than 1 occasion I saw staff using residents lifts to move laundry, room items etc about floors. There was no valet car parking and no evening meals (which we were made aware of before booking), but to retain 5* these must be rectified before next inspection. Absolutely great 1st class spa pools which sells the hotel and I’m sure brings back repeat customers. Location is great, staff are great and always happy to help. Would love to return in the future.…
The hotel is badly insulated and noise travels from other rooms. I had particular loud neighbours who partied through the night and the night receptionist was unable to quieten them. The reception was also unmanned for part of the night so I was unable to speak to anyone when the noise continued. The service at breakfast was unacceptably slow. Since my stay I have found the GM of the hotel to be unresponsive, unsympathetic and unhelpful, which explains why the rest of the staff didn’t seem to care about our experience while we were there.
Outstanding hotel, outstanding service. We stayed here for two nights and everything was perfect. Stunning interiors, wonderful staff, great location. The spa was super nice and was a peaceful hideaway underneath the city. Would highly recommend this hotel and I can't wait to return.
We had a lovely stay at The Gainsborough Bath Spa. A central location, making sightseeing, shopping and eating out easy. The front desk staff were welcoming and very helpful and the rest of staff were friendly. The rooms were great - spotlessly clean, good temperature, very comfortable bed (maybe a little on the soft side for some). The complimentary drinks in the mini bar were much appreciated. The family members who used the Bath House were very happy with thermal baths, sauna and gym. Should the opportunity arise I would definitely stay here again.
The hotel is a decent 5-star but nothing exceptional except for the baths which are really special. staff is kind of hit or miss, some are really great others don't seem to care. I had 2 small items stolen from my room (beauty) I did not misplace them- one day I saw they'd been neatly arranged and 2 were missing. Very bold. Probably take items you think you'd misplaced or think you must be going crazy and didn't take with you. However, I know what I packed and I know what was gone immediately following the cleaning. Those items never turned up in the hotel or at home and I checked every inch. Cleanliness- so so - there was a cotton bud (used) in my room for example and some hair. Not thrilled. Despite all this I'd still recommend for the baths alone, just lock up your stuff (a shame but true) because if they will take small items they will likely take anything. The baths though are a truly special experience. Debated on whether to write this- but this was my experience and I feel I've pointed out the positives and negatives as I experienced it and it's my experience, yours could be different.…
My partner booked this as a surprise - and what a surprise it was! The hotel is immaculate and the concierge (sorry - totally forgot to get a name!) could not possibly have been more helpful and friendly. We were given an upgraded room to a courtyard room and it was perfect. The spa is absolutely lovely and immaculately clean. In the evening we had cocktails which were superbly put together and delicious (sorry, I again forgot to take the names of the staff, but they were brilliant!). The location is perfect for dining out and there are some superb pubs and restaurants nearby. There were only a few things that we’re disappointing - the restaurant was closed which was a shame, valet parking would be really welcome from the car park nearby (and paying to park is annoying when staying at a 5 star hotel) but neither of these factors spoiled the stay. One other downside, however. Is the clientele - most were fine, but some people really need to realise they are taking to human beings when addressing staff and also to accept that not only are they not royalty, they are no better than the next person. I would put that more strongly, but I doubt it would get published. Nevertheless, we cannot wait to return and are already booking time off work to do so!…
