Travelers' Choice
While you'll find many historic hotels in Bath, there aren't any like No.15 Great Pulteney. Independently owned and set in three Grade-I Georgian townhouses, No.15 is a quintessentially English boutique townhouse that's full of surprises and curiosities. Our 40 bedrooms are individually-designed with a supremely comfortable night's sleep in mind, while also being spaces you'll want to spend lots of time in. Captivating collections, statement art and ambient lighting all help to create a truly unique experience. The Dispensary is a social hub for a relaxing dinner in intriguing surrounds, while Bar 15 – which serves up creative cocktails and wonderful wines from across the globe – becomes a big focus after dark. Sybarites will also be keen to note that we have a one-of-a-kind spa hidden beneath the pavements. To be found in a peaceful residential area on the grandest street in Bath, we’re just a short stroll from the all the city's boutiques, restaurants and cultural highlights.

My husband surprised me with a visit to bath at No.15 Great Pulteney for my birthday. We stayed in a grand junior suite room 18 - and the room was absolutely perfect. The hotel was stunning and the staff unbelievably helpful. The location couldn’t be any better. The decor is so unique and the free larder is such a lovely touch. I had a massage and facial treatment in the spa and that was a real treat. Breakfast was also delicious and cooked to order. Even in the pandemic you can see how much care the hotel has taken to make everything safe and secure. We can’t wait to return!

We booked a large deluxe double for our 10year anniversary. After lock down was eased we were really looking forward to our stay. We arrived at the hotel earlier then planned but our room ready so we were allowed to check in. We wouldn’t normally stretch to a “deluxe” anything so we were really looking forward to seeing our room. We were quite surprised to be taken downstairs to the basement level.... nicer rooms are generally high up, our room was also right next to the door to the restaurant.... we were slightly concerned about noise but we thought we would just see how it goes! This was our first child free break in a long time so wanted to be able to enjoy lay ins. A member of staff showed us our room and said we had a complimentary class of Prosecco for our anniversary.... not sure where it was or where we had to get it from but we never received it. The room was lovely, lots of space. Having a TV we could steam Netflix from our phones was a big plus... but we could not find the free sport advertised... which my husband was disappointed about. We booked afternoon tea for our first afternoon, we were told to go to the bar on the ground floor. We did, which had other groups in and a nice atmosphere... but we were then taken downstairs to the basement restaurant, where we were on own.... seemed like a strange thing to do! But we couldn’t fault the food or the drinks. It was lovely. We just couldn’t finish it all. The bed was really comfortable, however in the early hours of the first night I was woken by what sounded like someone walking laps around their room. I couldn’t quite figure it out at the time, so just tried to go back to sleep. But I kept hearing it. We had breakfast in the restaurant which was lovely, and the service was great. We spent the day walking around Bath, we returned to our room to hear, what can only be called a rave going on somewhere! The music was so loud!! We called reception to complain and the music was quickly turned down. I believe it was coming from there large suite! We enjoyed cocktails in the hotel bar on our last night, because of social distancing we struggled to get into any other bars but we really enjoyed the hotel bar, it had a nice atmosphere. Our second night I wasn’t woken by the foot steps above us, but when we woke up for breakfast I could here them. Walking back and fourth! Over and over again. On check out I asked what was above our room and I was informed it was the kitchen!!!! I wish I’d asked after the first night and asked to move rooms!!! Overall the hotel is lovely! We didn’t feel unsafe (Covid) there at all and staff were generally helpful. We were in room 30, which is a lovely room! I would’ve preferred a bath rather the just a shower, but the bathroom was really lovely overall. I think because we’d paid extra for a better room our expectations where very high, and they just weren’t met.... what with music noise, kitchen noise, no atmosphere for afternoon tea, no sign of the complimentary drinks, no free sports as advertised. It all just took the shine of it for us.

If you've got the budget, this is the perfect boutique hotel close to the heart of Bath. From the moment you enter, you feel you are in an oasis of classy calm and comfort. The interior design and decoration are truly stylish, with imaginative touches and great finds everywhere - old photos, light fittings, perfume bottles, the list goes on. Service is excellent too, and dinner was delicious. We didn't take breakfast, which is pricey at £20 a head, but instead walked into town where there is a wide choice of excellent cafes - Rosarios, Wild Cafe, etc - that open around 08.30 - 09.00. No hesitation in thoroughly recommending as a great base for any visit. A final tip - by far the cheapest parking locally is at Morrisons supermarket, 10 minutes walk away - you can book it via one of those parkingspace websites

We joked that our short break here might be our last before Lockdown Mk II. If that turns out to be true, we wouldn't complain. From the moment of arrival - when our room was ready three hours before it needed to be, when we parked right outside and they took car of the permit for us, everything the staff do is aimed at making their guests enjoy their stay. The facilities match their diligence... a luxurious four-poster plus a pull-out bed for our eight-year-old, for whom a teepee had also been put up. The décor is old world modern... distressed wall covering alongside USB ports. Illuminated doll's house contains tea and coffee equipment. A larder is well stocked with fresh milk, snacks and to the delight of the aforementioned boy, a changing supply of ice-cream. Breakfast, of course, has to be booked because of COVID precautions and guests arrive masked-up, like the staff. The menu is extensive, the food is freshly prepared, the coffee is superb and the serving staff friendly and attentive. This hotel is a world away from the bland generica of the big franchise. Its location ten minutes' walk from the city centre means it manages to be both central and quiet, with elegant neighbours and wide pavements that hark back to its regency origins. 15GP sets the standard for boutique hotels.
