Simply put, The Royal Hotel was absolutely sensational in every way -  be that the extremely friendly and helpful staff, the exquisite room or the location and ambience of the place. I can only recommend the staff and their hotel very highly. From the moment I arrived right through to departure, Will and his colleagues on reception went out of...

We were not staying at this hotel but we have been in before for a drink and decided to do the same when we were in Bath this time, it was Friday 6pm and the front bar was busy, we ordered a bottle of wine and as there were not seats the bar tender suggested we went to the Isambard...

Thank you for your review Yes our main bar can become very busy on a Friday evening and as you say we recommend guests to use the adjacent Isambard Lounge Bar if there are no seats available in the “1846”, which is our main bar. I am sorry to read that you found the Isambard Bar not to your liking...

An old hotel,in a good location, close to the centre of Bath, about 50 yards from the railway station. We went on a Wowcher deal for an overnight stay. Cheerful, helpful staff made it an enjoyable stay. Good food and service. We intend to go back again.

So our fourth visit- and the best thing about the hotel, food and staff is consistently! We have been on visits at all times of the year, and the hotel never falls short for us. Mike runs this smoothly run ship, with a smile and a firm hand. He is an excellent manager, who will be seen in the kitchen,...

My daughter and I stayed for one night on the 11th of January and I just wanted to say how welcoming and friendly the staff were. The food was to a very high standard and the rooms very clean and comfortable. Great location to the town for shopping. Thank you to all the staff.

We stayed on a "Travelzoo" special so were not expecting A1 treatment but just the opposite was true. This is a "Station Hotel" built when the railway arrived in bath and fits the period perfectly. The room was quite quirky with a step in the middle, high ceilings and huge windows but warm and comfortable. Everything was provided in the welcome...

Spent a Christmas Break here with my husband, Christmas Eve until 27th. It was absolutely fantastic. The hotel is very old world and just what I imagined. The staff were on hand for your every whim, were polite, professional and worked their socks off. The food was amazing, we didn't need to snack between as it was three course lunches...

Great location opposite train station. Right next to the shops and restaurants. Staff all friendly and helpful. Booked as a voucher deal so got a cream tea ,dinner and breakfast. The food was very nice and a good choice. The only thing that lets this hotel down is the decor, it could be more modern. We had a superior room...

Thank you for your review and for your compliments regarding our food and staff. With regards to the decor we have chosen to not be as you describe “modern” as this would be out of keeping with our hotel which was designed by Brunel and built in 1846. As such we have tried very hard to maintain its character via...

Convenient location if traveling by train. The hotel is across the street from the station. Short walk to the center of town. Included breakfast is good. Service is great. The hotel has so much potential to be better and IMO would easily push it to 4 star class hotel vs. 3 star class hotel - it's a bit rundown and...

Thank you very much for your review and for your compliments regarding the quality of the service and, in particular, our award winning breakfast. I was disappointed to read your comments that the hotel needs updating as all of our rooms have been redecorated within the last three years and indeed there is a rolling three year decoration programme to...

Lovely hotel friendly staff, food was excellent, had evening meal and breakfast. Great location in city. Only issue was shower in room took long time for water to get hot. Room small but ok as only staying one night. Tea and coffee facilities, biscuits and fruit, nice touch.
