I have been to the Francis Hotel a few times now (and have also booked a "Festive Break" with them) and have always found the staff to be helpful, polite friendly and most of all professional. There are a few that need to be recognised, as they are always ready to do what they can, and go the extra mile to make your stay the best it can be. Paige is a warm friendly person, on my last visit I mentioned that Gremlins had eaten all the biscuits, so on this visit (for my birthday) I found a little present, look at te photographs and you will understand. Katherine, Alison, Beverley and Yasmine all deserve a mention for what they do. So, the stay, great room, clean, tidy, comfortable, huge comfortable bed, big TV. What I really liked was the fact that housekeeping actually knocked the door to ask if we would like our room made up after the first night. Paul in the bar is a character, always smiling, always happy for a chat. Food was as good as remembered, and Simona in the restaurant made us a special cocktail personally. Breakfast is great, you can ask for things not on the menu (fried bread, my favourite) and nothing is ever a problem. Check in and out was quick, seamless and streamlined (I have a card registered, and check in on line). All Covid precautions seemed to be in place, with staff earing masks. This leads me back to the title of this review, after reading some of the more recent reviews, I wondered if I was in the same place, but I guess everyone is an individual, it would be a boring life if we were all the same. Personally I have never had a problem with the staff, the room, the food, the cleanliness or anything else. They are happy to do what they can to make sure your stay is the best it can be (which is why I have booked a 3 night Festive Break, and am really looking forward to it). I would not hesitate in recommending this Hotel to anyone....

I had intended to stay in bath for 4 days instead I stayed for 2 days! I was delighted to return to the Francis hotel as a had been there back January..and enjoyed my stay! I checked in okay and the room was lovely..not enough blankets for November! I did ask Katherine for a blanket but it wasn't warm enough! Trouble with bathroom taps in room 38 needs looking at!! Breakfast is much better now as the refurbishment of the restaurant is ongoing! I wasn't keen on the buffet breakfast back in my January stay! Breakfast is how you like it ( to your taste ) now in covid19 times! Would stay again despite everything! Thanks to Katherine for lovely friendly attitude for both stays in January and November!! Also love the restaurant food as a bad experience in a steakhouse forced me back to the hotel..loved the Madeira gravy! Good luck and keep positive!!

My overall experience is rated low as I have certain expectation from 4* property that were not met this time in this property. Let's start with good things: the hotel is located centrally and close to all main attractions of Bath and restaurants. The staff has been friendly and helpful throughout, especially breakfast team in the restaurant had great service standard and attention to detail (picking up empty plates, checking with us if all was ok). Onto the not so satisfying aspects: I have been emailing with team member (Beverly) prior to my stay asking about parking and if we could store luggage in the hotel in case the room was not ready. My final email was never answered which is not great, but also in her communication I was told it's better to leave bags in the car due to COVID restrictions (understandable as different hotels have different policies but this seemed a bit strange in comparison to other hotels I stayed at). After we arrived in the hotel we were offered the service but it was too late as we had to leave to our appointment and had no time to return to car park on Charlotte Street. Secondly, the room although cosy and beautiful at first sight had its faults which I would not expect to see at 4* hotel. Few examples: there was a stain on the bedsheet, beautifully displayed in the middle of the bed - we arrived late at night to the room and could not be bothered to be moved or had someone to change the sheets - so we left it without letting anyone know, the bathroom shower was leaking so after the shower the whole bathroom floor was flooded and you could not step on a dry floor - standing in a puddle of water is never nice. Thirdly, you could see that there were paint marks on the window and bathroom walls and although it's a good sign that a room gets its TLC, clearly it was not cleaned properly after the painting job. Finally, we asked for bottled water to be delivered to the room at night (approx 10pm) and had never received it. Given the fact that we were in superior room, and it is a 4* hotel I would not expect so many faults in one room. Perhaps I was very unlucky with this room, but all things considered together leave me with a score of only average score for my review and being unsure if I would give this hotel a second chance.

Stunning hotel with a wonderful history just a short walk from Bath City Centre. I went with my 3 children and I felt very safe and comfortable within the hotel. I was very impressed with the covid measures they have put in place, the staff were fully adhering to the social distancing measures while remaining friendly and professional. The room was ideal for us (1 adult and 2 children) with lots of space. Clean and modern while still feeling cosy. Breakfast was delicious with plenty of choice and staff could not have been more helpful. Thank you so much for a wonderful stay, we will be back!
