Stayed at hotel for 20th wedding anniversary. Beautiful hotel and a great location. Lovely gardens and outdoor seating area. Amazing Staff who were extremely attentive and very helpful. Would definitely stay here again 😁
The hotel - like so many other establishments - seemed short of staff. Kept waiting an unacceptable time at check in whilst receptionist was on phone to new booker. Didn’t acknowledge I was even standing there. Poor meal for our large group. Staff otherwise helpful. A large hotel, great grounds. Place could be great, but isn’t at present
This property has so much potential. The service was lacking and not professional and the whole place needed a really good scrub. The location was good, not too far from the buzz, but far enough it was quiet. I don’t really think it’s a true 5 star.
The hotel building is stunning and set in gorgeous gardens - inside the architecture is beautiful and the decor very tasteful - my husband and I had the Champagne afternoon tea - lovely finger sandwiches very appetising - the scones were freshly made and still warm and delicious - and it was finished off with a varied selection of petit pastries that were really tasty - there was also a great choice of teas or coffees - our server was Carlotta who was really friendly, attentive and welcoming - we would definitely go back and try out the spa which we viewed and looked inviting. All in all a lovely experience thank you.
Lovey beautiful hotel big rooms nice and clean went to see Roman baths so booked my self in here would go again loved it nice outside garden and the bathroom was beautiful and the breakfast was delicious would highly recommend I was not disappointed at all
We wanted to have a relaxing long weekend and the Mcdonald Hotel and Spa at Bath definitely met our expectations. We stayed in a standard double room which was more than enough for us to have a relaxing stay. The bathroom was clean and spacious as well as having a balcony. The hotel staff were very accommodating and friendly. The wife made use of the spa facilities and was able to book a last minute pedicure whilst we stayed too. Overall, we thoroughly enjoyed our stay and plan to make this an annual trip for the August Bank Holiday weekend.
We stayed this weekend to celebrate my fiancé's birthday and have come away rather disappointed in the whole experience. Checked in earlier than expected which was a bonus and made our way to the room. Double room size was ok apart from windows being nailed shut, not sure this is allowed, so we had to rely on the aircon for cooling. The actual spa needs a lot of attention. Rather dirty and tired looking, needs a lot spending on it to bring it up to standard. Lots of broken and dirty tiles and definitely nothing to shout about. Barman in the evening was very good and was very attentive and happy to help. Breakfast was an absolute shambles! Queued for 30 minutes for our table. When sat down, took another 30 minutes to take our order (for coffee) and then another 30 minutes to take our breakfast order. No-one was controlling the front of house at all. We saw at least 4 other tables leave in disgust without having their breakfast. Completely understaffed and those that were there weren't being managed. This is a beautiful looking hotel however our experience simply didn't match our expectations. Update the facilities, employ more staff and get them decent training. Definitely not worth the money.…
The website is incredibly misleading. It looks luxurious and is very expensive for what it is. The staff are slow and have lack of care of service. When being led to our room we had to walk through dirty a cleaning and food down all the hallways. The rooms are shabby and dirty and need redecorating. Our toilet was loose off the wall and the shower was filled with mould, tiles broken on the floor and room service doesn’t answer the phone. The spa is very dirty and filled with children splashing and tiles falling off. We are incredibly disappointed in the stay and we complained to the manager who replied “ok thank you for the feedback” then tried to charge us again for breakfast that we already paid for. The food is bland and it’s such a shame as it’s a beautiful building with stunning grounds. Really disappointed that we were not offered any form of discount or taken seriously in our complaints. We have stayed at many 5 star hotels and this place certainly isn’t.…
Really lovely stay, location and care. The team is so friendly and pro-active - I couldn't fault it. We had a group of 14 people for a training session and the hotel really took the time and trouble to understand our requirements and meet them exactly. The food was amazing and the service from Carlotta and Amba was first class. And the front desk is great too with nothing too much trouble and a cheerful help with bags.
Room good (chose garden view - worth it) every comfort, especially super bathroom, fine views over Bath. Staff pleasant and seemed well-trained. BUT - dining was poor. Ludicrously expensive wine (£40+ for Picpoul which is £7-£10 anywhere) and average food at the price. Service skilled. Refectory dining room with no intimacy offered. Breakfast was worst we have encountered at any hotel for years. Tiny over-cooled omelette with strangely plasticy Bacon and toast like rusks. Poor selection of cold fare. Service slow. Altogether not what should be expected at this level. Complained after queuing (annoying) at check-out but received no apology or acknowledgement. Disappointing.
