This is my first ever trip advisor review. I have experienced my fair share of mediocre or average hotels and restaurants, but I was so underwhelmed with my experience at MacDonald hotel and spa, I felt compelled to share my experience. Just to add some context, I booked a one night stay at the hotel for my Mum and I....

I cannot comment on this hotel as we didn't actually stay here. I booked a 2 night stay which would have cost us in the region of £700 including evening meal. On receiving our booking details 3 days before our stay, I noted that we would be charged an extra £5 per day for parking. Given the amount we would...

For some reason this hotel has a 5 star rating. Perhaps at one time in the history of the house it lived up to its recommendation but nowadays it just looks tired and in need of some TLC. Decor is peeling and patchy and it's honestly not somewhere I'll be visiting again. We had a 2 night deal which is...

My fiance booked this as a birthday treat for me as I've always wanted to go to Bath and in particular I've heard really good things about this hotel, so I was excited to go and really wanted to love this place. BUT...unfortunately we experienced terrible service, a cold room and a spa that was the least relaxing part of...

My partner booked us into hotel for my birthday. We arrived on 12.2.17 early for 'Sunday Lunch' which we prebooked, only to find this was not on the menu. We were sat in bar area & ordered off menu (£16 for2 x glasses of prosecco!!!). The food was delicious although service about slow. We then checked (easily) into room which...

The hotel is beautiful but staff was unhelpful and unwelcoming. The Spa which is meant to be the main attraction was crowded and dirty. Miles away from 5 stars standard. Best part of the stay was leaving.

What a treat, a lovely hotel, could be the best we have stayed in, the staff were fantastic. The room was amazing , the breakfast was superb and the spa was free and just as good as the one in the city . I can't recommend this hotel enough.

a true shame that such an incredible setting should be absolutely tarnished by unhelpful, incompetent, and rude administration and staff. On arrival we waited ages to check in, and were then hassled for parking fees (surely this could be rolled into the bill at 5 pounds extra at a 5 star hotel). The Jacuzzi and spa facilities were closed down...

This hotel is ideally situated in extensive grounds 10 minutes walk from the centre. Rooms are well furnished and the beds are very comfortable. Nothing is too much trouble for the staff who are attentive to guests needs. The Spa is fantastic and it is great to be able to have a swim after a day's sightseeing. Highly recommended.

We have stayed here a handful of times and the hotel and grounds really are stunning. So much so that we chose the venue for our wedding. The staff are always happy to help and the customer service is excellent. Great location to visit Bath city.
