After 2 days in another hotel where the bathroom was up the stairs and down the hall, the Dukes was a wonderful and very refreshing change! Beautifully appointed room and ensuite. Be prepared for lots of stairs to reach your room - but the climb is well worth it! Breakfast was most enjoyable with wonderful options Continental and cooked options.... More

This is the second time at this hotel and will be the only hotel we stay in, on our visits to Bath in the future. Apart from the amazing Georgian decor, courteous and professional service, lovely breakfasts and great location you just feel that they really care for their guests which to us equals a faultless experience.

We feel privileged to be located within two handsome Georgian townhouses on arguably the finest Georgian boulevard in Europe, resting in the only World Heritage City in the United Kingdom. Our contribution lies in simply trying to enhance the stay of each of our guests. Delighted that you found us ‘faultless’………….and please never hesitate to tell us if otherwise. We... More

The official title of this is a guest house but that rather understates how nice it is. We stayed in the Beaufort room (a deluxe double) and though you couldn't quite hold a ball in it, it was very spacious, with a nice sitting room attached. Maybe not quite a royal suite but opulent enough! very nice staff on reception... More

We try to avoid an ‘official title’ – we have a wonderful bar though do not promote it – we will manage your washing though do not advertise it – we enjoy serving sandwiches, tea or scones though do not exaggerate it………..we seek to offer the ‘country home of a long term family friend in the heart of the city’... My wife and I stayed here for 2 nights and had a wonderful experience. The rooms are very well appointed with very high Georgian ceilings. Truly stunning, as was the service and the breakfast which was to die for! I mentioned that it was our wedding anniversary and the staff were kind enough to sneak in to our room a... More

Thank you for the ‘highly recommended’ accolade and we are delighted that we were able to enhance your anniversary celebrations. Residing within two Grade 1 listed Georgian townhouses offers our guests a rare and wonderful opportunity to experience the majesty of a Georgian property. The vast sash windows and cavernous rooms are a wonder to behold and so distinct from... More

Lovely room on 2nd floor with super king size bed. Very comfortable indeed. Lovely breakfast too. I particularly enjoyed the locally sourced sausage. Complimentary early evening prosecco went down a treat too.

Delighted that you thoroughly enjoyed the complimentary early evening bubbles – an aperitif to enhance the stroll into the city on these balmy evenings!! We take enormous pride in offering our guests a ‘best in class’ breakfast uplifted with fresh smoked fish from Paignton, award winning black pudding from the Isle of Lewis and excellent locally sourced smoked back bacon... Can't praise this hotel enough. Stayed in the Athol four poster room. All our needs were catered for especially the special requests I asked for as we were celebrating my wifes birthday. Staff excellent as were the breakfasts.

Your ‘praise’ is warmly accepted and greatly appreciated. We welcome the opportunity to enhance the stay of all our guests, whether those choosing to celebrate in one of our snug romantic mansard rooms or more indulgent suite of rooms .....or share an occasion in one of our ‘four poster rooms’. Our facilities, reception and concierge services are freely and equally... More

We had reviewed this hotel on trip adviser and as a result our expectations were already high. When we arrived it was even better than we expected. The staff are just great, very friendly, polite and helpful. We stayed in the Athol room which was beautiful and spacious, we were simply blown away by it. We were invited for a... More

Your ’highly recommended’ accolade is warmly appreciated. Our guests benefit from our ‘goldilocks’ location on Great Pulteney Street – away from the noise of late night city revellers though a mere 5 minute level stroll into the heart of the city. The Athol offers tremendous WOW factor and is an idyllic suite to celebrate an anniversary, achievement or special occasion.... More

This is the third time my wife and I have stayed here as we always have a great stay. The location, tall ceilings and decor transport you back to the grandeurs of Georgian Bath and each room we have stayed in has had its own individual touches (this time we were in the Marlborough Suite). The staff are very welcoming... More

Repeat guests are a marvellous confirmation of our activities and service. As you note we offer 17 unique rooms that range from the majesty and WOW of the Athol, overlooking Great Pulteney Street, through to the discrete cosy romantic nature of the ‘snugs’ on the top floor. For those seeking more accessible space we offer two lovely rooms on the... More

My wife and I just got back from a 2 night stay and we'd easily say we are very happy. A more traditional hotel with a grand old feel. The location is ideal as its easy from the M4 and with the parking permit provided by the hotel, you don't need to worry about the car. Pulteney bridge, the abbey,... More

As you note the Bedford and Richmond are our two ‘snug’ rooms beneath the mansard on the third floor. While larger than many standard hotel rooms we always seek to lower expectations. The rooms are best suited to ‘business travellers’, ‘lovers’ and those seeking to enjoy our service at least cost whilst ‘vacation travelling’. With 17 unique rooms on offer... More

Our second visit here in just over a year as a birthday treat. Exactly the same as my original review (April '15). It is set in a lovely period building, about 10m walk from the main Bath attractions and Pulteney Bridge, along a fairly quiet period road. A parking permit is provided by the hotel which covers the local streets.... More

Dukes stands proudly within two Grade 1 listed Georgian townhouses. As you note the property, décor and furnishings all accentuate the drama and beauty of these marvellous properties.
