The Lion and Pheasant has a cosy ambience, lovely pastel grey and wood furnishings, and music playing but not too loud. The service was friendly and efficent, and the menu was supplemented with warm bread accompanied by a delicious homemade herb butter, and then an amuse-bouche of a soupy thing. Our chosen dishes surpassed our expectations - we thought they... More

I stayed at the Lion and Pheasant with my wife on Saturday 16th July. I booked at relatively short notice and could only get a 'Comfy' double room (Room 20). We were both very impressed with our stay. The hotel is a great mix of old and new, retaining oodles of character (beams, uneven floors, etc) while being decorated in... More

Its a lovely old building with parking right in the centre. Very smart and a lovely atmosphere. Food in the restaurant was very good if a little pricey. Only thing that was a little irritating was that when we advised we would be checking out before the 8am breakfast time - at 7.30 we weren't offered any packed breakfast which... More

Stayed for just one night in July. I was upgraded to a double room. Very comfortable and well equipped (even with an iron and iron board). Not hugely spacious by some standards (e.g. visiting Americans might find it a bit snug), but fine by me. The room and public areas are all decorated to a high standard and are bright... More

This was a very nice hotel where we had a very excellent dinner. The hotel had such a narrow driveway that we were told to pull into the parking area across the street, turn around, and approach it from the other angle. We actually tried to book a room for the next night so we could have another excellent dinner,... More

We were looking for a hotel for one night and so many insisted on a two night break. The Lion and Pheasant were happy for us to stay one night and were very accommodating. This is a delightfully quirky hotel. The rooms were very comfortable but so hot. A fan was supplied but didn't really cool the room. For breakfast... More

We stayed last night to celebrate our second wedding anniversary. We booked a standard double but the fabulous team upgraded us to the loft. It was easily the nicest room we have ever stayed in. The bath is amazing! The bed was really comfy. Everything is clean and well thought out. We were made to feel very special. We loved... More

This hotel is great. Don't be fooled by the 3 star rating this hotel receives. It's much better than 3 stars. The hotel is beautifully decorated and the staff were exceptional. This was a perfect night away situated in a lovely town and a perfect location. The full English breakfast is amazing too! We'll definitely be visiting again and would... More

We stayed here for my birthday and it was a real treat. Everything is exceptionally tasteful. Although it's not cheap, it's worth the money - it feels very luxurious and service is excellent. Breakfast was superb - eggs benedict! The bar area is lovely. Room was fabulous - we both slept really well. We'll definitely be back.

We just stayed for one night and were very impressed by the facilities, cleanliness and friendliness. The hotel gives the impression of modernity but is actually and old oak-beamed establishment that has been very tastefully refurbished. The hotel is very conveniently placed for exploring Shrewsbury. We will definitely return.
