This is a thoroughly charming house decorated with a Darwinian theme throughout - quirky and individual. Our room was spotlessly clean and the bed was comfortable; it was generously equipped with teas & coffees and everything worked. The breakfast was excellent, as were the staff we encountered. There is an honesty bar which seemed popular although we did not use...

We booked via Booking.com -£100 for 2 nights B&B for 2 people. On arrival we were upgraded from the garden rooms to the main building at no extra cost! The room was clean, warm, comfortable & big enough. The whole place had a wonderful ambience - the staff were very friendly & helpful. The full breakfast was yummy & the...

We enjoyed our stay in one of the (rather small) garden rooms, though suspect these aren't quite up to the standards of the rooms in the main house. Plus points include high quality toiletries and a good selection of tea and coffee (including coffee bags). The electric shower was a little feeble and the mattresses weren't particularly comfortable. The staff...

Great hotel, close to the river and town centre. Tastefully decorated with a cosy resident's lounge and separate hospitality bar. Great atmosphere, comfortable rooms, amazing breakfasts, and outstanding service. Holmes and Watson would have loved it here. Wished I could have stayed longer.

I stayed here with some friends in a triple room in the annexe building. We were greeted by a very friendly lady who showed us around the main house and to our room. The room was great, very nicely decorated with complimentary toiletries and tea and coffee. There is an honesty bar in the main house which we were welcome...

The townhouse is very well located within comfortable walking distance of the town. On arrival, the young lady at reception was friendly, efficient and polite. We were briefly shown around and one of the lounges had a very well equipped and reasonably priced "honesty bar". The townhouse itself is decorated, as the name would suggest, in the "Origin of Species"...

My wife and I booked last minute to stay in a 'garden room' on a Saturday night. After reading some of the poor reviews of these annex rooms we really did not know what to expect. Well everything turned out fine....the room although small was lovely with the biggest Super king bed I have ever slept in....the house itself was...

I booked a rather last minute trip for a bargain price of £65 for a Saturday including breakfast. When we arrived we were greeted by a very polite lady who gave us a quick tour and showed us to our room. We were staying in the annex which meant going out of the main hotel and through the garden to...

Warm welcoming staff, great rooms with all the amenities you would expect. Bathrooms are new and beautiful. The "living rooms" on the ground floor beautiful warm and inviting. The fully stocked honor bar was an excellent option just to sit and relax and have a beverage. Carrie and Hanna the who manage the reception make you feel like family. The...
