Cosy and traditional pub decor and atmosphere, delighfully in keeping with the historic building and remote moorland location. Good beer, with a selection of real ales regularly including Jennings favourite Cocker Hoop. The menu has a good selection of traditional favourites and bar meals. The food, I felt, was a tad dear for what I was presented with; the meat... More

Stopped in while touring Derbyshire on the recommendation of friends. Very busy pub. The food is average quality, typical pub style. The beef was a bit tough and the Yorkshire very small. Good beer selection. Has an outside patio to enjoy.

We did not stay at the inn, but read about it in the guest book of the cottage we were staying in and were glad to see it lived up to the compliments. The traditional food was delicious and a good size, and it was nice to see delicious Vegetarian takes of a 'sunday dinner' (vegetables and roast potatoes with... More

I'd heard some good things about this place but I wasn't impressed. The inside of the pub is dated and wasn't that clean. The food for the money didn't cut it. My lasagne was burnt. The Yorkshire puddings frozen, the chips although homemade were soggy. They didn't have the wine I wanted from the menu. They didn't have the beer... More

Stopped here for lunch on Saurday, It was very busy when we arrived but managed to get a table outside. Our order was taken very quickly and even though there was a steady stream of meal orders being taken it didn't take long for ours to arrive. My son had the mammoth grill which arrived piping hot and was a very... Found this Inn/Pub whilst out walking with our dogs. Stopped off for lunch, bar interior perhaps a bit dated, but food and beer were good and staff helpful. Food arrived quickly (not busy at the time) and was well prepared. Certainly worth a visit if passing by.

Ate here for lunch. Pie of the day was steak and ale, made freshly that morning. Best pie I've ever tasted, and I've had many. Shortcrust pastry was just amazing and great locally-sources steak as well. Very friendly service to match. Can't wait to go again.

Lovely little inn in idyllic surroundings serving excellent food. We both steak and ale pie, delicious pastry and served with fresh vegetables. Service was very good. Beautiful place inside, steeped in history and many old original features. Set in beautiful well kept grounds and the peacocks are well worth saying hello to!
