We stayed in room 15 which had a separate lounge area as well as a four poster bed in the bedroom. The hotel is an old coach house and the buildings and our room felt wonderfully historic. We had a Christmas dinner at the hotel which was 5* quality. The breakfasts every morning were amazing and the cream tea, delectable.... More

The Bear is a character hotel which adds character to the iconic town of Woodstock. We very much enjoyed our stay and felt the staff were very helpful, the room excellent and I would give the bathroom ten out of ten.

We enjoyed a one night stay, the usual high standards experienced at other McDonald hotels. The staff were very welcoming and friendly, excellent service. We enjoyed our evening meal in the restaurant. Really comfortable room so we had a great nights sleep. The location was ok, we had been to Bicester Village and it was about a 20 minute drive... This was our second stay at the hotel and we were not disappointed. The hotel is small enough to care about guests. We were given an upgrade as it was mentioned we were staying to celebrate a birthday. I would recommend this hotel to friends as not only amazing friendly staff it is also in an excellent location.

A repeat visit to this character Hotel. Reception as all staff very polite and friendly. The two rooms we had were spacious clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the restaurant was well below the standard one would expect from the bacon being under done to the evening menu -a burnt veggie burger needing to be sent back. Waiter explained Chef off on... More

We stayed here as we were attending a wedding reception at Blenheim Palace. On arrival we were upgraded to the Park Suite, an absolutely stunning room with private entrance and stunning features. The staff were amazing and couldn't do enough for us.

Had an amazing weekend stay in a Suite. All the staff are very friendly and very helpful. I had to call reception as there was no hairdryer in the Suite and within minutes it was delivered. We used the restaurant for both dinner and breakfast and the food, presentation and service were all perfect, staff kept on asking if everything... More

We booked the Newbold Room at the Bear for a birthday lunch for 20 people. Although the response to the initial enquiry and replies to emails in the early days was a little slow, as the event got nearer the service improved. On the day the staff were wonderful. Nothing was too much trouble. Our waitress, Martina, even went home... More

Recently returned from a weekend at the Bear hotel. Always wanted to stay there, as for years we have stopped for afternoon tea and loved the character hotel. We had a package, DBB and opted for the 'feature suite' we were not disappointed. Beautiful attic room with own staircase. Bedroom, bathroom and sitting room. Full of character and just delightful.... More
