There are many pubs in Woodstock and after our short stay in the village, we vote this the best one for friendliness, lovely food, an imaginative menu, excellent cider and a smart comfortable approach to its decor. Despite visiting a number of the other venues for drinks we returned to The Punchbowl each day for our meals.

Lovely clean spacious rooms in this delightful pub set in the middle of the village in Woodstock. Unfortunately food was not available on the night we stayed but we were directed to another pub a short walk away.

There are times when you stay in a room when you wish the owner/manager/host had actually tried the room out for themselves so they could see the simple improvements that could be made that would make a whole world of difference. In our case we had rooms 5 and 8. Both nice enough rooms but between them they suffered from...

Arrived with very early check-in at 12pm. Room was lovely and airy and comfortable. We arrived and checked in no problem. The landlord was very friendly and made sure we were looked after with all info given over. The Punchbowl were not doing food after 7.30pm as they were away at a family party so we asked about other restaurants....

We had been let down by our hotel restaurant and were looking for a place that was welcoming with good traditional food. A lot of places in Woodstock appeared to have rather fancy menus for my taste. I found The Punchbowl to be a friendly, welcoming establishment with a very charming and chatty owner , polite staff and superb food....

We were visiting the Christmas Lights Trail at Blenheim House late in the evening so decided to arrive early, have lunch and look round the village of Woodstock. The web showed Woodstock to be a traditional Cotswold country village with shedloads of charm and interesting architecture, which I like. Knowing we would be home late after the lights trail we...

At £100 for a family room, it is not a bad price at all, but it is extremely basic. We arrived just after 9, the pub was already closed, and there was parking available but nowhere reserved for guest staying so we had trouble fitting into the car park which wasn't ideal. After finding our way in, we met Keith,...

This Public House/boarding house is very pleasant, décor, service, cosy, warm and reasonable price. Food was served at lunchtime, however the Pub was closed in the evening with no food or bar service, (only to hotel residents) which seemed a little strange ? I would guess it was less than a mile to the actual front doors of Blenheim so...

We had spied the punchbowl earlier in the day and decided to return in the evening for dinner. The service was warm and friendly. Drinks bought to the table. Menu was homely and reasonably priced. Dinner was tasty and well cooked. 7.30pm on a Friday evening - one other table of diners.... very quiet and lacking in atmosphere but otherwise...
