We stayed at this Guest House as a large party of 13 for a family party nearby. The manager was exceptionally friendly and accommodating. The family room was a really nice size for 2 adults and 2 teenagers. Comfortable beds, large bathroom, toiletries, fridge, tea and coffee making etc. It was very clean. Three of us missed breakfast and they even sent three toasted sausage sandwiches wrapped in tin foil back to us. We would happily stay here again. Thank you very much.

We stayed just one night - 3 of us in 2 rooms - and were royally welcomed. The rooms are very well equipped and have all you need for a comfortable stay. Our en-suite was bijou but perfectly adequate (we are a bit spoilt by a huge walk in shower at home). Breakfast was plentiful, well cooked and varied with a wide range of stuff to eat and drink. Parking on site in this nightmare of a city for parking was a real bonus, and they were great at allowing us to go back and park later in the day whilst waiting for our daughter to finish her seminar down the road. Very helpful owner who was open to learning of a couple of minor faults in our room (sink plug detached, and wobbly chair) and committed to sorting them out as soon as we had gone. Reasonably priced but recommend you book direct for the best price, rather than an agent (sorry TA!). I would definitely stay here again.

I am not usually one to write reviews but the way I was made to feel by the owner was not something I could just ignore. The main purpose of my visit to oxford was for the half marathon. When I arrived yesterday evening I tried to park in the tight car park at the back which was unfortunately full. It was dark and wet so I asked the owner for help turning around to advice on where to park. This was met by a response of he shouldn’t be out in the cold and that he can’t be liable for my vehicle. He reluctantly helped direct but this was conducted in a demeaning manner. Then during check in I mentioned I’d have to check out early and miss breakfast as I’d be leaving before the designated breakfast hour. Again this was meant with an angry response and there was no attempt to accommodate me, so much so that I had to provide my own breakfast! The room itself was ok and you could tell it had been refurbished though the en suite is very dated. The mattress however was appalling so I barely got any sleep. Provisions and amenities were very basic and rationed. Overall I just felt like my custom wasn’t appreciated. All about the money rather than the delight of customers.

Your review has been noted and discussed with our Duty Manager who received you at the Guest House. Car park at the back was full and the bollard to stop more cars going to the back had been moved by a guest. It was unfortunate that you went to the back and experienced difficulty. Peter was within his right to advise you that he would not like to be held responsible for any damage to your car for tight manouvering due to bad experience before. Peter is an experienced member of staff who comes across as professional. We had quite a few Marathon runners staying and he offered those who were leaving early Brioche and Croissants in their rooms, I believe you said that you would make your own arrangement. I am sorry that you feel you were not afforded service to meet your expectations during yourstay at The Conifers
