This hotel is an excellent boutique hotel located in the heart of Oxford, walking distance to everything. While it is a converted prison, the rooms are spacious and very comfortable. The restaurant is also excellent.

This is the most quirky of hotels I have ever stayed in. But it certainly is bijou with a theme. So many of the original elements of the buildings former life as a Prison. The rooms were lovely, the staff very helpful and the food par excellence! Just out of this world. I give it full marks

Really nice meal. Great atmosphere too. Was quiet enough that we could talk. Also great ambiance being as it was in a prison. Not the cheapest and small portions but overall very good. Would recommend for a nice dinner out with friends. Well done.

We always stay here when we visit Oxford. The staff are wonderful - Lauren on the front desk always looks after us and could not be more helpful. The rooms are great fun - cool and comfortable. Great breakfast and good location. Always a pleasure to return.

I stay in hotels about a hundred nights a year. Checked into the Malmaison in Oxford and it was as you'd expect such a hotel to be and all the more interesting for being an old prison. My problem was with the staff. At check in I waited for the one available receptionist to finish a chat with a colleague...

We managed to book a mid-week offer at Malmaison and have had a very comfortable stay. The most difficult part was locating the hotel, but we can't blame the hotel - it's just part of Oxford's ever changing traffic system. Avoid bringing a car if you can! We used the convenient, but expensive, hotel parking. Although it may be fair...

I recently stayed here with my partner for our anniversary and we were absolutely blown away by this hotel. The location is fantastic! If you arrive using the park and ride, the hotel is just a few steps from the bus stops and is very central, just a stones throw from the shops. The staff were fantastic and couldn't have...

I cannot praise the reception staff at Mal Maison highly enough. Amy and poppy deserve special mention. They showed patience and professionalism when adjusting my booking , accommodated my wish for a change of room to cell block status , welcomed my family and my dog , adjusted my rate to reduce it of their own initiative when booking prices...
