We paid £800 for two nights stay in a Junior Suite. The location is central and the room was a good size but the decor, cleanliness, amenities and service were 3-star (at best!) and worthy of perhaps a third of what we paid. - The room was not clean! The sink was stained with yellow, the leather sofa was stained, there was limescale around the bath and it was really dusty under the bed (we knew this because my toddler was crawling on the floor) - The TV had around 6 working channels; none of the Sky channels worked and it didn’t have freeview; it wasn’t equipped with Netflix/other streaming services and we weren’t able to cast from our phones - The shower screen was not properly fitted and it actually came off during our stay!!! - none of the windows opened and the bathroom had no windows so the room was stuffy and musty - We were provided with 4 nespresso pods with milk that came in tiny capsules - We arrived early and our room wasn’t ready so we left our luggage at reception; when we checked into our room our luggage wasn’t brought up and we had to go fetch it ourselves (not a big deal but for a 4-star hotel and the price we paid I would expect more) I know Oxford is expensive but we were overwhelmingly overcharged. The whole hotel feels like it is long overdue a total revamp. Overall wholey disappointing.

Whilst there are plenty of hotels to choose from in Oxford the uniqueness of staying in the converted prison cells cannot be beaten. These rooms might cost a little extra but are well worth it. The rooms are cleverly created and someone must have had fun designing the carpet. Typical for Malmaison service levels are extremely high.

Stayed for two nights in a signature suite on a social trip to Oxford. Room was ready when I arrived, but was freezing cold. Had tried to contact the hotel regarding dining in the hotel and tried to book online but had no success with either. It was a real disappointment, but I easily found dining in Oxford and had a great experience in Oxford. The suite wasn’t worth the £700 bill. It was average, but not suite worthy other than the size. Windows not clean, room not clean, TV remotes missing, not enough milk, water not refreshed on day 2, freezing throughout stay due to only 2 small heaters downstairs. Generally not a great stay & not asked on checkout if I had a nice stay. Not really what I expect from Malmaison. Overall not sure I’d want to stay again, with other great alternatives in Oxford offering much better accommodation for the same price or less.
