The hotel is in the heart of central Oxford, the rooms are cosy but very comfortable. We enjoyed a very nice 3-course meal in the restaurant on the Sunday, nice size portions and good quality food. However the stay at the Malmaison was tainted by the very surly and harassed staff. Check-in seems overly complicated, the staff at the bar...

We recently stayed a night at this hotel and were throughly impressed. Loved the concept. Our room was spotlessly clean and well appointed, liked the few extra touches that reminded us that we were in a prison. Food excellent. Staff especially in the restaurant were charming, Antonio being very helpful on the wine front, letting us try several different reds...

Stunning building with a perfect location and very friendly and professional staff. We stayed in the side building with large modern and well made rooms. I would not want to stay in the former prison where they converted the old cells into rooms, the reason being that despite the effort in the renovation they still look cramped with lowish ceilings....

This was a Xmas present from our children, it was a brilliant experience staying in an old prison, lots to do all within walking distance. The hotel was amazing, lots of character, keeping many features from the old days as a prison. Food great, clean rooms and very friendly !

Hotel is in a nice setting with a mixture of prison surroundings and comfy hotel. Food and drink service is very good. However I paid £28 to park my car at the hotel to find it shuffled around the car park during the one night stay.......which is fine. However I was concerned when stood on the balcony of my room...

Excellent staff from the moment I arrived. Very unusual hotel in the old prison. Lovely room and facilities. Original prison cells and landings but no slopping out. Porridge for breakfast as you might expect but there are alternatives!! Excellent bistro restaurant and wines. Would definitely return.

Night in Oxford and treated ourselves to a stay at the Malmaison which is expensive but worth it. Quirky building was a castle then a prison and now a hotel! We stayed in House of Correction but next time would stay in the main prison bit. Beds very comfy. Excellent sleep no noise from other rooms at all. Very clean....

Our stay in Oxford was one of those that left us feeling a little disappointed. The Hotel is spectacular. The arrival has a real wow factor, atmosphere and expectation are built with the entrance hall, dark lighting and a real feeling of history and to be very honest this is continued once you get to your room. Wonderful presentation and...
