We travelled 20 miles to meet friends coming from the other direction to enjoy the wonderful 'carvery Sunday lunch'. Oh dear, no carvery, lunch was tasteless, staff were very inefficient and under trained, only four other people in restaurant. Oh, and the ladies loos were not serviced. So sad. This lovely Cotswold hotel urgently needs money spent on it to... More

Booked in for three nights last weekend, looks great from the outside, very tired inside. well worn carpets on the stairs and landings. Room ok overlooking the courtyard, nothing special - no door on the wardrobe! Dinner the first night in the bar - two main courses only ordered, Got it wrong, waited several minutes for my wife's meal to... More

The staff at this hotel seem not to know or care what they are doing. The information on their website is very misleading to say the least. The menu for the evening meal is limited. My wife and I chose the beer battered cod & chips although the portions were large the food was all cooked from frozen not very... More

Despite reading about Room 24 in a recent review,we found it to our requirements. The shower was really powerful, the bed comfy and although small, the room was just right. We had an evening meal in the Bar,good size portions and then sat in the Lounge with our drinks. It was a pleasant stay, staff were helpful and polite and everything was clean and tidy.

I made this booking for myself husband and dog weeks ago. We arrived tonight to be given what is really a single room with a double bed in it leaving nowhere for the small dog bed and nowhere to put our small overnight cases except on the bed. I complained to be told the hotel was fully booked and no... More

This was the outcome of our 'Mystery Tour'....On arrival at the hotel the first impression was "what a lovely looking cotswold stone hotel"...the check in was fine...the room (number 84) was a "double superior"..entrance hall with a trouser press.., twin windows..nice size room and in the bathroom his and hers washbasins, bidet, toilet and jacuzzi bath...! ...then just after unpacking... I have experienced this hotel over a number of years and each time it appears to set itself low standards and frequently fails to reach even these. In no particular order, we've had ghastly wine which had no place being on any hotel's wine list being sold at £20 or so a bottle, pre-agreed options in rooms (non-allergenic pillows) not... More

We were asked to pay up front at reception, unusual but we obliged, we then found out why. The room provided was incredibly small, we could barely get in. It was filthy, not vacuumed, bread crumbs on the chair, dead wood lice on the night table and in various places on the stained carpet. The room was incredibly hot, the... More

Probably easier just to do the pros/cons. - very outdated hotel, in need of modernisation - mattress horrendously uncomfortable. Springs sticking into you, very squeaky and you both roll into the middle! - light above the bed is far too bright, could do with a lower wattage bulb or two lamps on the bedside tables instead - iron burns in...
