Nice play to stay in Oxford and feel the history. Great place by the river and near Christ Church with ease of access to town. The establishment is busy as expected and the room were surprisingly quiet. Cozy, clean with friendly staff.

The Head of the River is located by River Thames next to Folly Bridge. It is walkable to downtown about 5 min, and it is very convenient to access bus connection and historical tourist attractions. The complimentary snacks and drink in the room are grand. Staff are friendly, great food in the restaurant and beautiful river view.

I've been for a drink at the Head of the River many many times. It is essentially a tourist pub on sunny days as it is one of the few pubs on the river. Great beer garden out the front but quite pricey for a pint. I've eaten here too but wouldn't recommend it.

The head of the river was a last minute selection I found myself needing a room for one night I don't know Oxford at all but I couldn't have made a better choice. As a woman who was traveling alone on business I was made to feel welcome and was comfortable and had an excellent night sleep.

Stayed here for a night on the way from Yorkshire to Cornwall. It was well located for exploring Oxford and the parking was a real bonus. The staff were very helpful, and the room was modern and clean. However the pub was quite run down and in need of maintenance and repair. The room was quite dark. Also thought it... More

The Head of the River was the perfect base for our weekend away in Oxford. The staff are welcoming and the pub/hotel warm and comfortable in style (country chic). The pub has excellent food and a nice atmosphere. Coffee by the river on our last morning was definitely a highlight. It's a short walk to the centre of town. Will... More

Drinks were expensive, however location perfect seating areas well maintained and very clean Our room was at the front of the hotel and possibly could be quite noisy but it was fine during our stay. Lots of people dining and if we had stayed for two nights I'm sure that we would have eaten there. We went on a lovely... More

It was great. The only minus was the heat. The room got very hot. Lovely venue and staff was extremely friendly. Pub was great and everything was made simple and easy. Great location. Will definitely recommend to other people x

We stayed four nights and found the accommodations to be more than adequate for our needs. The location is terrific and the ambience is warm and inviting. The room was pretty basic and going up and down three flights with luggage may be tricky for some people, although staff were more than willing to hhelp.

3 of us went for lunch and sat in the garden by the river. The garden was very clean, tidy and well-kept. Between the three of us we had two burgers and a fish and chips, all of which were delicious, well presented and a good portion size. Will definitely return.
