The best bit of this hotel is the location. A 20 minute walk along the river from the city centre. The rooms are great, very comfortable with good quality facilities. The service in the rooms is excellent. The problem with the hotel is the food and drink service. The restaurant menu is limited, the service is chaotic especially when busy and definitely not consistent. Having said that when the food arrives it is good, and there are interesting dishes available. Breakfast is a better experience than dinner, there are plenty of choices on the buffet which is refreshed regularly.
Wonderful hotel ideally situated for mini break in Oxford 10 min walk to historic city 1 min walk to river ample car park . The hotel is beautiful we had a standard room and it was large and beautifully furnished, very comfy bed , breakfast and evening meal very nice
Visited with my Hubby for 2nights at the weekend. On arrival the receptionist was very welcoming. Check in was quick. On walking through the hotel to our room we acknowledged how clean the hotel was and our room was the same. Very comfortable and clean. Our meal in the hotel restaurant was lovely. It was very organised and our server was delightful. We both enjoyed our meals and I have to say the salted caramel tart with ice cream was one of the best deserts I’ve had. We had a great day shopping at Bicester village which is around 25 min away. On our second night we went out for dinner and the hotel taxi drove us to the restaurant and picked us up a few hours later. He was very nice and professional. The breakfast at the hotel was nice although it would have been nice to have porridge on the menu. All in all a very enjoyable stay. We will definitely return.…
When we were arrived the car park was nearly full. We managed to squeze into a space at the back of the hotel, there was a short cut to reception. We arrived early, our room was ready. Receptionist could have been a bit more welcoming. I think we must have been in a room furthest away from reception. Once we found it, it was lovely. Plenty of space not to feel on top of each other. It was spotless. Only used the bar once, had no problem with service. Breakfast was your usual buffet, tea and coffee are brought to your table. I had an issue with a dirty cup, which was rectified staight away. We were told at check in breakfast was from 6:30, we just assumed that was the weekend as well. So we had to go back to the room until it was open. Not the only ones it happened to. Lovely walk along the Thamas path from the back of the hotel. Will say walking from our room to reception/bar/restaurant, there was a strong smell of smoke in one of the corridors. Not sure if they were smoking rooms. We would stay again…
We booked for our anniversary and wanted a nice getaway from London. However we weren't told that they were having filming done in the lobby which made it extremely uncomfortable to walk around or go into the breakfast area. Furthermore we were not told that they were having building works done on our floor which again was a huge disturbance especially as they started so early. A little heads up would of been greatly appreciated. Room was clean and the staff were friendly, just the courtesy email in advance would of sufficed.
