Not overly impressed for such a prestigious place. Waiters need some waiting lessons on how to serve. You serve from guests left as a clue. Didn't receive a warm welcome from any of the staff. Travel lodge where friendlier. Came here for a wedding. Never had melba toast where its been cut in half to make it thin. And only one side toasted. Decor poorly executed see photos. Room was grubby marks on walls and hand rail. See photos before and after cleaned with a wet tissue. Even when bedroom window is shut you can see daylight down the side. Updated the heating system but cut off copper piper pipes visible through hole in carpet where they havnt made good.. see photos. Especially when it's 200 per night. Food nothing special. My pressed shoulder of lamb was over seasoned.way too much salt. No crisps or snacks for children behind bar.. walked to tescos to get something. Unless your child eats nuts and olives. Bed was wonky the mattress was higher at the feet end than your head so slept upside down in the bed. Trying to be an up market hotel in a scruffy aera. Didn't see the point in complaining to magement as had to leave next morning at 9am. Dirty cutlery on wedding breakfast table... 3 meals got left out when serving our table had to ask twice to receive them. Chips on jugs of milk for breakfast. Tried an early check in. All I got told was check in doesn't open till 1500. But didn't even ask what my booking was or room number.. found them very rude and unprofessional. Enjoyed the wedding but felt really disappointed with overall hotel experience. After our experience with this chain I wouldn't recommend them to anybody.…
We normally stay at the Randolph in town - but they were so over priced. Voco was brililant. lush room (basic room too), lovely toiletries, super comfortable bed, staff at reception are lovely and friendly. loads of parking. very quick taxi service to get into town. i will defo stay here again.
Small room, very soft bed (I fell down), no fridge in room, shower not suitable for disable guest, parking £ 15.00 ( disable driver also pay), room £ 306.00 per night, Rip off hotel, avoid if you can. told breakfast included but later told it is £ 16.95 pp.
Since we couldn’t get into the Old Parsonage Inn for 2 nights in Oxford, we spent one night at the Voco Oxford Spires. They have free parking and are about a 15-minute walk to town. It’s a chain hotel, and everything was fine. It just wasn’t as charming as other hotels we stayed at on the trip. The breakfast buffer was delicious.
Wonderful stay at spires, on the hottest day of the year we were very glad of the beautifully air conditioned room. Room 209 being very large, clean and with a beautiful balcony. Reception and bar staff were super friendly, easy to park, lovely bar and terrace area for a drink, breakfast had everything you could want with a relaxed atmosphere and free i-paper. Just a short stroll into town or food in the bar which we didn’t eat but looked very good. Thank you for a wonderful stay :)
The hotel is in a great situation, with a rural feel, quiet, close to the boathouses on the Thames, and yet most of Oxford centre is easily walkable for those with good mobility. Breakfast is OK too, and the swimming pool and exercise equipment super. Why not more stars? Because it isn't 5 star. Like many places it obviously has staffing issues (though staff are trying their best and are helpful), and some are a bit undertrained. The food is OK without being particularly great, and the rooms are generally large enough for a day but not a week. Detailed upkeep issues around showers and TV working are missed. Many rooms are a bit of a walk from Reception and dining, so anyone with mobility issues should mention it when booking.
Perfect if visiting Oxford and driving, on the edge of the city centre before the city centre restrictions and complications, with plentiful parking. Short (15 minutes) walk along the Thames from the rear of the hotel to the city centre. All staff helpful and friendly. Small but comfortable room with good air-conditioning. Looks to have been recently refurbished. Relaxed bar area with pleasant courtyard for warm weather drinks.
Stayed a few nights for a relaxing visit to Oxford. Ideal location - 15 minute pleasant walk through the Christ Church meadows to the High Street. My room was ground floor facing the front of the hotel and spacious, quiet and comfortable. Loved the fact that the window opened and I could get fresh air. Toiletries and towels were fine. Restaurant meal was fine. Breakfast was good. Gym was small but pretty good. The one thing I would have liked to have was a bar fridge in the room - always handy when staying a few nights. But I was exceptionally tired in these few days and got some great rest so am grateful for the stay. And the staff were exceptional - unusually friendly and helpful. Well done!
We stayed here for 4 nights in June 2022. We really enjoyed our stay. We were in a quieter part of the hotel and usually here lots of noise but was pleased that this was quiet. Room was quite small, however contained everything we needed. Was also pleased to have a powerful shower which is unusual. Breakfast was good, staff friendly. Use of pool was good, however it was very cold so you couldn't use it for long. Provides a perfect base for exploring Oxford and a nice walk along the river to get to the heart of the city. First time staying in the voco version of ihg and would definitely look at again.
This hotel was such a good find. Wonderful staff, beautiful hotel and super clean. Breakfast was great! Would definitely stay here again and would highly recommend to anyone looking wanting to stay in Oxford. Thank you.
