Very good Comfortable and very friendly service and relaxing. I defently recommend. Very beautiful peaceful and clean. The swimming pool and spa is absolutely fantastic. The food is excellent. The service is perfect.
Refurbished as part of IHG acquisition, it is now a well presented hotel within walking distance of town centre. Plenty of expensive parking, but then all parking in Oxford is expensive! Check-in was efficient but cold to the point of abruptness, which is actually a common trait amongst most of the staff. The room was comfortable and fair-sized, although the Covid precautions meant no fridge, room literature or decorative items, which left the room stark; perfectly understandable though. Food and beverage services are basic, with draconian misinterpretation of government tier 2 rules meaning that the bar/dining area is mostly empty as residents choose to dine at more relaxed venues in the city. Room service is available with a £5 surcharge. Overall a very clean and efficient hotel which has a good location and represents fair value. But warm and welcoming? No! …
My husband and I visited this hotel for a weekend break in December 2020 Pros - Breakfast in the restaurant was excellent and a very decent size! - COVID precautions were being followed throughout the hotel and we felt safe during our stay - Very comfy bed, I slept very well! - We had one meal in our room which was very nice. The steak was particularly good - Friendly staff - Easy access to Oxford. We walked into town each day which took about 20mins via the river Cons - We didn't have a room service menu in our room and the one on the TV is really hard to read - The bath is very narrow - Breakfast options for room service were minimal, it would've been nice to have a full English in bed - The TV guide on the smart TV isn't great, although we didn't really need it as we were out most of the time Overall a very pleasant stay …
We were very fortunate to stay here during Covid . We felt very safe with staff being very attentive and appropriate restrictions being followed at all times. Hotel was modern but felt cosy and our room/bed was exceptionally comfortable. Breakfast was excellent as was service.I am coeliac and they catered very well for me. Lovely riverside walk following the Thames path from hotel into oxford centre.
We enjoyed our weekend so much here we have booked to return over new year! There is not one single thing I could fault. Rooms perfect, lovely atmosphere even in these difficult times. Plenty of handsan stations everywhere. Staff wonderful, and they even made me a pretty decent Expresso Martini! We didn't intent to eat both nights in the hotel, but we couldn't be bothered to go back into Oxford. We were pleasantly surprised that the food was excellent - so we ate both nights. Breakfast superb with table service. What can I say - if you fancy a break I cannot recommend this enough. Decent bus service or a lovely stroll along the river straight into Oxford itself. See you Soon :-)
