Location is great as it is near the bus stops and sights of Oxford. Great restaurants nearby. Customer service was very unfriendly at check in and check out. Attitude was bad. Rooms are stale despite asking for an"renovated room". Asked for a room on main floor or elevator

Dear Norm 849 Thank you for your recent review following your stay in Oxford. I am very sorry if you did not receive a warm welcome, I have a fairly new team on the welcome desk and a couple of them are slow improving their command of the English Language. A little nervousness with their English does make them tense and serious, I am very sorry if they offended you. The hotel was renovated in 2015 when they did all the bedrooms throughout the building and I am afraid due to the building being listed and over 100 years, we are quite small and have an ongoing re-decoration for all areas of the hotel. I was pleased to note that you enjoyed our new Keepers Kitchen and Bar, we only officially opened in March this year and we serve breakfast, lunch and dinner as well as having a bar. Oxford is a beautiful and historic city, full of students and I am afraid with the hotel being located opposite the main examination hall, we were fully booked for most nights in May. I trust you had a safe journey home and if we can be of any assistance in the future please do not hesitate to contact the hotel direct. Yours sincerely Peter Watt General Manager

Bad customer service. The facility is pretty old; hot water doesn’t work and room phone is broke. Elevator stops only second floor. All the employees here have really low service mind, needs to negotiate to get what you want.

Dear Smitapuk, Many thanks for your review following your stay with us at the Eastgate Hotel. Please accept my most sincere apologies that your stay with us was not up to our normally high standard. Also, I apologies for there being no hot water in the room this morning. Unfortunately, our boiler system tripped out in the very early hours which affected the flow of hot water throughout the hotel but was rectified fairly promptly to restore the flow of hot water. I have asked our maintenance team to investigate the telephone in the room. I am sorry that I was not given the opportunity to address your concerns with you during your stay over the past few nights. Kind Regards Malcolm Hood Rooms Division Manager

Visiting Oxford as tourists and wanting easy walking access to all of the key sites, we found the Eastgate very conveniently located. Oxford is flat and the road system is complex so walking is very much the best way to get around. We saw lots of people waiting for buses to

I would choose this hotel again for its location! I had issues with the pressure in the shower and a very slow check out service - I can not fault the staff of the hotel as they can only work with the systems they have been provided! Would recommend the management of the hotel
