I was treated to dinner for my birthday on Saturday (24th). This was the 3rd visit to this pub as we were impressed with the first two visits, the 2nd visit one of the staff members (Sophie) remembered us, which was lovely. My partner had requested flowers & champagne for the night, but they do not provide either but Sophie... More

Not at all as expected from the description on their web site. Food was bland and flavourless, not a hint of the promised truffle in the gnocchi. Completely underwhelmed by the serving staff, and at the end a discretionary 10%service charge for tables of 4 or more!!

We popped in for Lunch briefly on our way through and the atmosphere and service was very good and the Fish and Chips was of a very high standard indeed and a large portion. However the menu was rather expensive, but we thought in overall it looked as though it was worth the price.

this is a pub about 2.5 miles from the headington park and ride. It is right in the country on a quite road. Food was excellent and reasonable value. I had pigeon salad, steak and cheese. All very good and the cheese was just right. Gooey and a decent selection of biscuits, Apple and quince jelly. The chips were some... More

We stopped off for lunch here on the way to the Cotswolds and were not disappointed. The food is delicious, staff efficient and friendly and it's a wonderful old building. We will definitely go back for a weekend some time as they have rooms too.

Avoid at all cost if you have bad eyesight and don't like wet condensation! Very noisy toilet and fan in bathroom. Windows left open on ground floor when we where out for the day, good job we had our laptop in car with us.

Stayed here for two nights in room number 4. The rooms are a little small but for amount of time stayed in them it wasn't too bad. Bedroom is very nicely set out and the bathroom spacious and clean. The hotel itself was nice and cosy but prices on the expensive side with no usual pub meals available for a... More

Food is good but drinks are super expensive. One double gin and tonic cost me £9.20...Absolutely ridic. Couldn't afford anything else after that. Good for a family meal, but definitely not affordable if you are a student and going for drinks with friends!

Needing a local place to stay the night before a round of golf at nearby Studley Wood I chanced upon (actually found via Tripadvisor) The Talkhouse. A charming country pub, the food and drink were first class on quality and quantity. Rooms were ok, just a tad tired with a slight air of functionality and could benefit from some updating.... More

This charming classically English pub does not disappoint. The food is exceptionally good value - beautifully prepared, with great care - this chef knows what he is doing... Seasonal food in portions that don't overwhelm - don't come here if you love a heaving platter, it's not for you. But if you look for food and wonderful flavours that make... More
