Lovely staff, awful shabby room , we stayed for a night my husband booked it based on the pictures on trip advisor, we didn’t see anything like the pictures. We were based in the second building above the cafe, which smelt of fried food and is being refurbished, our room was clean but very tired and shabby., the bathroom was in a poor state with many broken items. The staff are very friendly and try very hard to please. They have a breakfast menu which advertises a great selection of which there was only half available. We were advised the full English incurred an extra £5 charge per person. Despite paying extra for parking we found it difficult to find anywhere and you have to be good at parking in tight places. Great location in a residential area close to the river and town centre.

Hotel's Favorite
The Ethos has a lot going for it. The staff are superb; they are really efficient and knowledgeable but most of all, they are really friendly. The little cafe is good. The bar is well stocked and the breakfast was lovely. The location is ideal. It’s situated in a quiet street that is a 20 minute stroll from the city centre. The room was clean, comfortable with a good shower. Overall the Ethos is an ideal base for exploring the magnificent city of Oxford

Arrived in a run down “student”area. Asked to check in across the road at the Ethos Caffe. Very nice staff. Parking on site at back just wide enough to drive into - about2 inches either side ( good job I don’t have a 4x4. Back across road to room on first floor ( no lift). Small Bathroom with good shower over bath, shaving mirror could not be used as it would not stay in place. Only one towel. Bedroom - used tissue under bedside table. Room had sink and fridge (self catering?). Outside the room a bag of takeaway and another unused bag of food ( These were still there when we checked out the following morning. Went into Oxford for an evening meal - arrived back at hotel 21:45 bar closed lights off none around. Good breakfast though. Awake at night due to street noise most of the night.

Booked a room in this hotel for the night of Saturday the 26th of June. The room, which was the basic one, costed approximately 175 pounds including 10 pounds for the parking. Arrived at the hotel, the receptionist told me to park on the yellow lines as no one would check during the weekend (so the 10 pounds is not for a proper parking). The person who took me to the room did not know where the room (102) was; we had a tour of the facility before she realised the room was somewhere else. The room was not up to the standard I was expecting; there was a fridge in the room which did not close. In addition the fridge made a terrible noise which keeps you awake at night. In the shower there is no body soap but only shampoo and conditioner. The person in the cafe where breakfast is did not know whether I could have breakfast, for which I had paid anyway. I made the staff aware of all those issues and i have been told the hotel would be in touch with me shortly, but that did not happen. TH

Marcela and Juliana made me feel really welcome at their Hotel in Oxford. The room I had was warm, comfortable and accessible with the most fantastic wet room. Juliana gave me the most delicious pizza on arrival, which was most welcome. I had a £20 complimentary food and drink voucher, so spent it on the pizza and some other drinks.I have money left over and this is being saved for when I return! There was plentyof options for breakfast, but I have a strange diet and opted for a cooked veggie breakfast which was fantastic. If Irreturn Oxford I certainly will be rebooking Hotel Ethos. Its proximity to town is a huge bonus, especially as I am disabled. However, it was the warm welcome and the professional, but friendly, approach that really made the difference.
