spent just one night here in lovely quiet room overlooking the river. food was very nice, although there was a bit of a wait. no hairdryer in the room, but one was quickly supplied when asked for. would have scored 5* if there had been a grab rail and bath mat in the bath room and a decent mirror in... What a delightful place, amazing location on the river. Staff were friendly and helpful. I ordered home made lasagne and was not disappointed, side salad, coleslaw and chips were great. Good portion sizes! The desserts I saw go by looked very tasty too!

Reading some of the less complimentary reviews of the Fox I wonder at the inflated expectations of the writers. That the bar area is a bit rumpled is all part of the charm of a real country pub. That the prices may be somewhat above what may be charged in some other areas is a facet of touring the Cotswolds... More

Went here for a spot of lunch with my wife and son. We were greeted by a nice barman, who was happy, the food was ok I had stake winch didn't really have any flavour to it and the chips were dry and tasteless. Don't think we will be going back any time soon.

A beautiful spot in the Cotswolds..right on the river Windrush.. A lovely untarted up pub which sells itself on simplicity and a beautiful location..Horse racing orientated which is a subject close to my heart. Meeting the locals - a real laugh and having a conversation in the car park with no less than the Queens godson...You never know who you... More

We were recently let down by another hotel in the area and chose the Fox at the last minute without reading the reviews. It's true, it could possibly benefit from a tidy up in the garden, but the setting was idyllic, right on the river and so peaceful away from the main road. Wish it had been warmer so we... More

Phoned to change from Sunday (father's day) to Friday due to other plans and the bloke on the phone was rude, it sounded like it was too much trouble to get the book to change it, actually the whole phone call made me feel uncomfortable. I didn't want to go any further with the phone call so said to cancel,... More

We stayed here. The rooms are nice, the breakfast was mediocre. The supper wasn't particularly good and the meal was expensive for what it was. It is not a gastropub by any means but it charges gastropub prices. The overall decor of the pub is rather shabby. The beer garden next to the river has lovely views but it could... More

I came upon this perfect pub with rooms by chance, just a mile or so west of Burford. We were running a bit late, but the jolly landlord Paul welcomed us in like long lost friends. Lunch he said, no problem. He got us drinks and then produced a fantastic menu of lots of things both of us like, rare... More

Had a lovely stay in the Cotswolds and came across this amazing pub. It is a real old English pub , full of atmosphere. The food was excellent and we thought reasonably priced. Staff were welcoming, including an amazing dog called Chester who, I believe you can rent for a couple of hours and enjoy a walk in the countryside.... More
