I was sent on a course for work in Northampton and after spending a night at an awful hotel, I left and checked into the Poplars. I couldn’t have asked for a better welcome! Susan the Landlady was really friendly and welcoming, just what I needed after a horrendous 24 hours! She informed me about all the local amenities and although they weren’t serving dinner when I stayed, she informed me about all the places to get food, within a few minutes walk! The only room available was a family room, which seemed a bit extravagant as I was travelling on my own, but it was amazing! Warm, clean, fully equipped and comfy! And my own front door, which is great if you’re a smoker as you can just pop outside to the smoking area for a cigarette! Even in your pjs! None of this walking through loads of corridors to get outside! There’s parking right outside and the breakfasts are AMAZING!! I’ve never eaten an egg that was so delicious! And the waiting staff equally welcoming. If you can’t get to breakfast, Susan will make you a take away! There’s a Co-op down the road for anything that you might need and the Trafalgar pub is welcoming and the food is delicious and the staff friendly. There’s a great burger van at the Cardigan Arms on a Tuesday where you can order online and pick up and again is delicious! I think the only thing I would say could improve this stay is that whilst the poplars aren’t offering dinner, perhaps they could think about putting a microwave in the family rooms? I would have been happy buying a meal for one at the Co-op and having it in my room… just a suggestion, but overall, a great stay and I will be coming back in December! Thanks Susan and all the staff…
Lovely one night stay to see a concert a spinney hill theatre. The bed was very comfortable. The room was spacious and spotlessly clean. The bathroom was modern and again absolutely spotless. The breakfast was very generous and scrummy, best sausages I've ever had.
We were a party of 12 fly fishers on a trip from Scotland to fish Pitsford Water over three years. We chose this hotel as our base and were very glad we did. The owner Susan couldn't have been more helpful during our stay and her breakfasts were just fabulous. Rooms were comfortable and parking plentiful and secure. Although the dining room was closed for evening meals, there are two pubs in the village that were good for food (particularly the Artichoke). There was plenty room in a residents lounge for us to socialise in the evening as well. Would recommend unreservedly and will certainly return when we are fishing in the area.
Breakfast was well organised and nice quality. A good selection on offer. Excellent service. Evening dinner was not available. A couple of local pubs within walking distance are ok for dinner. We did not experience an executive room. Quite a damp smell on entry. The bothroom was very tired. The mattress was past its end of life. Not a good sleep.
Had the pleasure of staying in this gem of a hotel for two nights recently. Our rooms were spacious and comfortable and as in the rest of the hotel, maintained to the highest standard. There was a wonderful choice in the breakfasts, something to suit everyone, and I highly recommend the cooked breakfast. There is a variety of snacks and fruit available free of charge as you leave the dining room, a thoughtful gesture and much appreciated . The lovely Susan could not do enough to make our stay excellent. Look forward to staying again
