Pros: great breakfasts with healthy options available too; good location within easy walking distance of York centre; free parking; charming chambermaids and owners. Con: very small room with little storage space - couldn't imagine staying for more than 1 or 2 nights.

As ever, a warm welcome and comfortable stay at Number 21. The undoubted highlight is the fantastic breakfast with fresh local produce and home-made breads to the fore. Great central location, but nicely quiet.

I stayed 2 nights at No 21 York. My guide dog were made very welcome. Nothing was too much trouble. The accommodation was exceptional. There was a small fridge with bottled water daily as well as milk. There were locally produced shortbread on your tea tray. In the bathroom there was a beautiful box of toiletries. The wardrobe contained bathrobe... More

We were a party of three, myself, husband and son (19). Rooms good, Windows that opened with lots of fresh air. Ensuite tight but perfectly formed. Breakfast was awesome, they even made me some gluten free bread which was delicious. The other guests were lovely and the location was fantastic, walking distance to everything. Simon very helpful wth where to... More

I spent three very comfortable nights in this establishment and was not disappointed. As a solo traveller the room was quite big enough even though the bathroom is quite small it must be remembered that this is an old building. There was a small fridge in the room with still and sparkling water supplied. Excellent ginger shortbreads are provided with... More

Room was spacious and so well equipped, beds were very comfortable. There was so much great selection of quality food for breakfast all locally sourced. Simon was so friendly and welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Car parking on site. We will most definitely go again.

What an absolutely lovely B&B! Really nice little break away to York made even nicer by this place. Great service, building, rooms and the best breakfasts, from homemade granola (yum) to blueberry and banana American pancakes (double yum).

We stayed for 2 nights for our wedding anniversary. We were greeted by the very polite & helpful owner Simon who gave us a map of the area & showed us the best way to walk into the centre of York. He also organised a taxi for us the following evening for our anniversary meal. When we arrived back to... More

No 21 is in a brilliant location - a residential road within a few minutes walk of the centre of town with limited parking behind the property. A tall, thin townhouse, the property has been sympathetically converted to provide really comfortable accommodation and the breakfasts were fabulous - i defy anyone to just have one course! Room no 1 on... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel)
No. 21 York is a multi award winning Bed & Breakfast, offering a choice of nine clean & comfortable rooms, a warm and homely welcome as well as a great Yorkshire breakfast - all within a stone's throw of York City Centre. Built circa 1890, the B&B is a Victorian Terrace that has a history of offering accommodation and breakfast to guests since 1966, we will continue in this tradition of offering homely hospitality in some of the finest bed and breakfast accommodation in York. Our ethos is that we support our local & we are fiercely proud of our local Yorkshire produce, supplies & furnishings. Where possible, everything we do is a celebration of York and Yorkshire. York happened to us by happy coincidence & we love York and the surrounding countryside and it's a pleasure for us to share our "local" knowledge of what's on offer in our amazing city and - as it is fondly known - "God's own county" as well as how to get around & about. We look forward to welcoming you to our home & hope to see you sometime soon. ... more   less
