Overnight stay only in a triple room. Old quirky building. The reception staff were lovely! Arrived 4 Hours prior to check in expecting to use the luggage store but room was already ready for us which was excellent. In a good location for the train station and an easy walk to the city centre, Minster etc. Very warm, clean and...

Came to York with my Sister for a weekend. Wasn't sure what to expect, at first it looked like you were just walking into an Exhibition, which of course it is, it didn't have a hotel feel to it which isn't a problem. There were lots of older people in the reception area having lunch or cream tea all looked...

Really nice hotel. we stayed in room 208, brand new bathroom and redecorated to a high standard. really helpful staff especially James and Sarah who couldn't do enough when the heating malfunctioned. The hotel has so much history which I found really interesting. we only stayed for one night but would of happily stayed in this hotel longer and highly...

We booked the Bar Convent at the recommendation of a friend who had also stayed there a few years ago. Location was very nice, only about a 5 minute walk from the train station and 10 minute walk to the main town of York. The staff at the Bar Convent welcomed us with smiles and kindness which is really appreciated...

I love the out of the ordinary accommodation, and the Bar Convent has a unique character, good atmosphere and very friendly staff. The room was cozy, had all necessary facilities. Internet worked fine. There are some narrow stairs and it is a bit of a labyrinth to find our way around within the hotel - but then it becomes a...

Ideal for anyone wanting to stay away from all the hustle and bustle, a few local pubs across the road or a 10/15 minute walk in to the centre. Lovely breakfast and very helpful staff. Communal kitchen and lounge area on the same floor as your room. En suite bathrooms are very modern and clean

Comfy and warm. Clean and cosy. Room 8/10. Location 7/10. Breakfast, well a good choice, nice bacon and eggs but everything was deep fried so would give 5/10. Lovely building and nice staff. Would recommend as great value for money. Other hotels were charging a fortune for a much less impressive stay.

The Bar Convent has history as a place of hospitality run by nuns and is now a Living Heritage Centre integral with a very well run Guest House/B&B and cafe. I have stayed here a couple of times in the fairly distant past but I was very impressed with the renovations and improvements made since my last time. The atmosphere...
