So I had booked a 1 night stay here read reviews on booking.com arrived at 1pm check in time reception is unmanned so no paperwork waiting called phone was off text emailed no reply at all stood a hour waiting then received a call to say they were bringing the paper work I'm sat in reception the lady walks in totally ignores me I arrived in the glamping site looked OK the cost was £80.00 So all looks OK or so I thought I went out after a few hours to meet my friends got back at 9 ish so warm so I thought pull the duvet back to my horror I find a huge black hair and public hairs I know they ain't mine as my hair is grey .there was no way I was getting in the bed took the pillows off the bed slept on the sofa . Even though your sofas comfy at 80 per night I think it's a bit much . It got to midnight there was no way I could relax so I left a note on the bed and left . I would rather sleep in the car than in that bed . Even though they have my contact details the email that's there bounces back texts don't get answered . I look forward to hearing your response Donna seen as you couldn't be bothered to answer before Regards Carl

DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ESTABLISHMENT! NOT COVID SAFE After working throughout lockdown as a health care professional and therefore being a key worker we planned to take a break from our stressful work life and stay here for the night. However a couple of days before we booked my partner and I started showing symptoms of Covid-19 and could no longer go. The little hide did not take this into consideration and would not change the date of the booking. To add to the already stressful time I rang the phone multiple times with no answer. Women on the phone had a vile attitude and was clearly angry by me ringing multiple times and confronted me about this on the phone. This was no way to treat a customer. Obviously the customer does not come first at this establishment. Especially if you are a key worker within a hospital. Would highly recommend anyone thinking about making a booking with The little hide, to take into account the fact that you are unable to change the date of the booking if you have to isolate. DON’T WASTE YOUR MONEY ON THIS ESTABLISHMENT!

Response from Donna Harper, Owner at The Little Hide - Grown Up Glamping

Hi Harriet, I can assure you that we are COVID safe, and as you didn't stay here on Saturday I am unsure how you can state that we are not. We have checked both our email and phone logs (you provided your phone no for the track and trace) and we have had no contact with yourself at all, only Dominic. Admittedly I did miss 4 calls from him during a 20 minute period on Friday evening (while I was in B&Q). I answered his 5th call, and I can assure you that the phone call was quite pleasant. Dominic never asked for the booking to be moved, he simply stated that some friends were taking your place as you were unable to come. Unfortunately, as you will know being a key worker, we are in times of great uncertainty, and things are changing at the last minute. Our booking terms are quite clear, and unfortunately you were within the cancellation period when you made the reservation. I am sure that you are aware it would be unfair for us to give special treatment to some over others - it's impossible for us to know everyone's personal circumstances, and to be fair its not relevant. We have to be fair and the fairest way is to write terms and conditions and stick to those. While I am sorry that you were unable to come and stay, I am also sorry that you felt the need to write a review that was not wholly truthful.

Stayed here for 2 nights from Saturday 3rd October. Stayed in Teal pod, despite the weather conditions we had a great time and will 100% return. The beds are very comfy and a kettle is provided as well as 2 plug points, 2 chairs and a table on the patio for relaxing and watching the world go by. With the rain non stop we headed to the Den which is a undercover area for a few drinks where we met a lovely couple. Next to the den is the fridge shack where you can keep your beers and food, also provided in the shack was a microwave and toaster. There are also several bbqs you can use, just bring your own coals. The only downside is that the wi-if is non existent, despite notices advertising the password we couldn’t pick up any Wi-Fi signal either inside or outside the pod. We used the park and ride at Rawcliffe (about 5 mins drive from the site) to get into York on the Sunday, only £3.30 return per person. Overall however we had a great time and we will be back one day.
