Stayed here last weekend with a group of girls. The hotel is warm and welcoming with lots of little features you wouldn't expect like usb sockets in the wall! We stayed in rooms 24 and 25 both triples and had plenty of space. Room 24 had a small but very new ensuite shower room and room 25 had a full... More

Having arrived at the Hedley house hotel mid afternoon on a busy bank holiday Monday we were once again met with the smiling and welcoming face of Mandy , the same lady who had made our stay so pleasant on our last visit and once again we were checked in with the smoothest and efficient process that is typical of... Probably one of the worst hotels I've ever had the misfortune to stay in. I honestly don't mind hotels with old decor as long as they're clean. This place was anything but, towels were soiled ,paint crumbling away from the walls, sink dirty, sheets and duvet cover looked like they hadn't been cleaned/changed ,room small and hot, breakfast very basic.Also... 3 1/2 Star 5/10 (7/10 for location and service) You can't beat the location if visiting York. It's a 5 minute walk to the walls , 10 to the Minster. You can park on site at the hotel. Old style hotel with say 8 to 10 rooms. No lift and many stairs (not that this mattered as the concierge happily... More

I booked the Hedley house hotel as a surprise for my girlfriends 31st and boy was I impressed. The exterior is impressive, the bar and restaurant immaculate. The room (deluxe double) was huge was a lovey big bed and gorgeous bathroom. The staff were attentive, sorting a small issue with the shower drainage immediately and the breakfast was lovely. Couple... More

Loved the size of the room and bathroom. A few blocks to everything. Parking at the back is tight but okay once you get through the narrow roadway between the buildings. Great to have the option to have a draft beer or even dinner right there. The breakfast omelet was over cooked but the porridge was fine. The staff were... More

Overall it was a nice stay, but the first night did not augur so well. Room was entirely adequate on the first floor, but on the first night there were people above (somewhere) who came in late, so much creaking of floor boards and conversation which was almost comprehensible. However when staying in old houses, one should expect that. The... More

Lovely hotel in a great location, just a 5 minute walk to York |Minster. The staff were very helpful, they showed us to our room which we've never had at other York hotels we've stayed at. We paid £9 for a breakfast which we thought wasn't very cheap, but it was worth it as it was all locally sourced produce,... More
