We stayed for four nights on a coach trip from West Wales. Mum and I had a nice clean room with a bath and shower. We didn't have a river view but it was good to open the window in the hot weather and it was quiet at night. The covid regulations were being adhered to, I see another review complained about lack of housekeeping but I was aware that this was to minimise contact. The staff were happy to provide more tea and coffee when requested. The one way system and meal times worked well. The shower was great, good pressure and plenty of hot water. The staff went out of their way to be helpful and were friendly and polite, a young lady on reception offered to post Mum's card and another printed an e-ticket for me as I have no smartphone. Food was mainly traditional but we had a nice veggie cooked breakfast and vegan options for me were no problem, the staff were happy to discuss suggestions and soya milk was available for drinks. I would happily stay here again.

I can't understand some of the reviews. All the staff we came across were courteous, helpful and attentive. Everything was on time. We had breakfast and dinner at the hotel and breakfast was cooked to order every morning and the fresh fruit salad was fantastic. Our room was clean, large and airy - we could open the window for fresh air. The shower was also fantastic. Hot water immediately and the pressure was good. All in all a very nice stay. We travelled with a coach company from West Wales.

Upon arriving we were given our key and told our room number. Upon finding the room, I was annoyed to find that the upgrade we booked and paid for hadn't been given to us. However, the staff were helpful and were able to move our room to a river view like we'd asked for. Hotel is a little tired and dated, but in a fabulous location just across from the river and main shopping areas. However, that can be a disadvantage if you like quiet, as there was music playing from across the river until 4am on the second night of our stay. We had a problem with our shower and it was producing no hot water, and again this was quickly rectified. The rooms have very few plug sockets and we had to choose between us who could charge their phone each night. Has onsite parking, however there is not enough parking for residents AND staff as there were frequently staff parked in the middle as there were no spaces available, blocking people in who wanted to leave. Staff seemed friendly. Cannot comment on food or drink as we didn't have any here, but there is a nice dining area with a small balcony overlooking the river. Covid procedures in place, although not always strictly adhered to by guests. Overall a perfectly adequate stay. I would probably choose somewhere quieter next time, but if noise doesn't bother you it's fine.

We had one night in The Queens and that is enough. The location of the hotel is excellent, just off mickelgate and very close to the town centre and railway station. The rooms are very very basic and are in desperate need of a total gut renovation. The bathrooms aren't the cleanest and the towels which we were given had holes in them. The water pressure of the shower was taps were good but that prob the best thing I can say about the bathroom. The room had a large double bed and a single bed, dirty marks on the walls and carpet probably hasnt been changed in years. The room had one plug socket so it was a nightmare trying to charge phones etc and the room also gets ridiculously hot, we had to ask for a fan and that then took up the one plus socket in the room. The staff were pleasant enough and breakfast was ok but again nothing to write home about. The only reason we booked this hotel as it was cheap and prob does its job for one night but next time we will be looking to book into the travelodge on mickelgate as we have stayed there before and its miles better than the Queens.
