Our 3 night stay was spoilt by our room not being made up on 2 occasions. Having complained to Reception i was advised to email Travelodge Customer Service. This i did and was offered a £34.99 evoucher for our dissatisfaction. The problem is that this voucher has to be used within 6 months and with the current Covid-19 situation there is no way we would be in a position to take advantage of this. So i contacted Customer Services requesting an extension or a credit to my original method of payment, they replied saying that the 6 months validity would not be extended. My final response was to ask them to cancel my evoucher and donate the money to Shelter to which they declined saying that they could not offer a cash amount.
Hotel is very comfortable and central. You can walk everywhere, Very close to transport, surrounded by shops, cafes and a supermarket opposite, but still quiet. Staff, especially Claire at reception, are very friendly & helpful.
The hotel is in a good location and the staff were friendly. Everything was clean in the room, however I stayed in a super room and it only had one small radiator which meant that it was really cold during the night. It was ok for just one night, but wouldn’t stay in the hotel for longer.
You know what to expect from a Travelodge, a clean comfy room and you get that here. Staff friendly and professional. The location is super convenient for York and I’d definitely stay here any for the good price, location and staff.
Stayed in a 'SuperRoom' - only slight difference in price with only real difference being that a coffee machine is provided in the room. Bed was OK for comfort. Room decent size. Small TV. Lots of hairs in the shower tray. Remote control for TV was very dirty - probably never been cleaned. Our room was overlooking the main road and we were woken by passing traffic and noisy groups passing a few times. However in fairness it does state on the hotel website that as it is a city centre hotel that some external noise may be heard. Hotel room walls are quite thin though, we could hear next doors conversation and strangely we were woken by a dog barking in the hotel corridor in the early morning!! The location of the Travelodge was good, only 5 minutes walk to get into city centre. Advised by the hotel to park in the Tanner Street NCP car park around the corner which was £26 for 24 hours. The hotel offers a 33% discount on this price if you present your car park ticket on check in, however it's still very expensive. We only stayed one night but were planning on staying over 24 hours in the car park as we wanted to stay for lunch after check out. The staff at the hotel didn't know how much it would be if you stayed over 24 hours despite directing customers to this car park. In the end we just stayed just short of 24 hours. Overall a good location. Great price however as it is a budget hotel - you get what you pay for.…
