Stayed at Steer Inn for two nights in early May and found it a very bad experience. It is way out of town and very little around in terms of other restaurants-food options. The twin rooms were miniscule with a tiny cupboard en-suite attached. Initially there was no water pressure in the showers in both rooms which was eventually resolved by... More

We were initially a little apprehensive about the location of the Steer Inn (it took about 15/20 mins from York centre) however on arrival we realised it was worth travelling that extra mile or so. The room was nice,- cean and modernish with an ensuite and a tv. The food and service in the restaurant was amazing - we each... More

Having read the reviews dated December 2013 & January 2014 we very nearly cancelled our booking. However because of prior arrangements with foreign visitors who were staying at the hotel with us, we decided to go ahead with our 2 room reservations. As a result of the reviews we were apprehensive to say the least. Well let us tell you,... More

Oh dear not been here in 15 years & it's now diabolical! Such a shame it is. We brought my dad for his 50th I had rang 3 days before to book a table but once there they did not have our reservation luckily they were as dead as a morgue with no one else in there... It's was awful... More

Definitely the worst experience we have ever had. On arrival the place was cold and uninviting. The log burning stove in the lounge was full of ash and the whole place appeared not to have been opened for several days. The buffet was nothing short of appalling with the cheapest of produce on offer. Having stayed at the Steer many... More

Having ate many a meal here and always being impressed with the perfectly cooked steak it seemed the logical place to hold my 40th Birthday Party and I wasn't disappointed. Right from the start Darren and Mandy did all they could to help and this contributed to a very relaxed, awesome family party. The food was amazing and I have... More

Our overnight stay, and buffet on New Years Eve can only be described as total rubbish, the food very cheap and poor standard, Our room had the curtains hanging off the tracks, plaster of walls very badly stained carpet and the bed linen did not appear to be clean. We have been going to the Steer for over twenty year under... More
