The Grays Court Hotel is set in a wonderful location. It is very atmospheric and the history of the place is incredible. It is situated near the famous Shambles and Cathedral is a great location for exploring York. The hotel is beautifully decorated to an exceptionally high standard and is an eclectic mix of contemporary photographic pictures, historic decor and...

Great location. Very central but still very quiet. We had the Cliff Room which was quite small but more than adequate for the weekend. Lovely breakfast and very friendly and helpful staff. We would definitely recommend staying here if you are visiting York.

We were recommended to this hotel by someone who lives in York and uses its bar and restaurant. So glad we took their suggestion! This hotel is centuries old, with a long and fascinating history. It's tucked away out of sight, abutting the city wall - the city wall is their garden wall (and what a garden!). At the eastern...

We tried to book this hotel for a long weekend at the end of July 2017 in January. The on-line booking facility offered us an acceptable room, took all our credit card details and issued an acknowledgement and reservation number. 5 hours later we get an email saying there had been a problem with their on-line booking system and we...

We stayed recently for a 3 day holiday in York. We could not have picked a beter place. The hotel is a lovely old place with lots of character. The staff are lovely and look after you well. Our room was nice but not quite up to the price charged. The restaurant was also excellent with breakfast a real treat....

We had three rooms and all of them were decorated perfectly!!! Our rooms had a wonderful view of The York Minster! We had drinks in the Long Hall which had...

Just wanted to say what a fantastic night we had on New Years Eve. The building is stunning and is about as close as you can get to the Minister and the city walls. Our room (Cumberland) was fantastic and we both thoroughly enjoyed the seven course taster menu. Every member of staff were both courteous and helpful and we...

Absolutely lovely visit. This was a New Years treat for us, being common as muck our hotels are more often Brittania than botique! Yet we were made to feel very welcome. Service was friendly and efficient without being overbearing. The manager on duty (I asked then forgot his name- apologies!) could not have been more warm and helpful despite clearly...

We stayed for two nights over the New Year at Grays Court, and had a wonderful time. The staff were so welcoming and nothing was too much trouble. Our New Years Eve meal was innovative and delicious, the excellent entertainment, and the setting in this remarkable old building all added to our enjoyment. Grays Court, situated in a quiet area...

I could not speak highly enough of the service we received from the whole team of staff at Gray's - they were like a well oiled set of cogs all playing their own individual role to make the day perfect. The rooms were amazing and the history fascinating and the food was excellent . I would like to thank them...
