Absolutely stunning B&B . A large Victorian home with lovely lounge and dining areas . Immaculate bedrooms . Fantastic breakfasts and the most beautiful host Joan .Nothing was to much trouble for her or Lisa who also looked after us . Free secure parking and a short walk into the City .
Stayed one night as we were travelling to Northumberland. Easy to find and on site parking. Room was immaculate with a four poster bed that was incredibly comfortable. 15 minute walk to the city and if you have a dog a park right next door. Breakfast was cooked to order and it was delicious piping hot and lots of it. Very highly recommended
I booked Ascot house for my mum and Dad for 3 nights for my mums birthday, we had a fantastic time, everyone was so lovely, the rooms were nice and clean and the breakfast was great, thank you for giving us a fabulous experience, we will definitely book to stay here again:)
Exceptional bed and breakfast. Well worth the money and breakfast far exceeded expectations. Definitely recommend if looking for a stay in York. Rooms were all very clean and bed although a bit hard was stunning fly poster.
Nice smart clean Bed & Breakfast. Very traditional decor, but the fixtures and fittings are very well maintained, the room I was in was comfy with a modern shower room Breakfast was cooked fresh, and the buffet part was more than I was expecting. It’s location in. 15-20 walk in to the heart of York City Centre. If I had one negative comment was, yes they welcome pets, but was surprised to see a dog in the dining area while eating breakfast.
Stayed here last night had 2 rooms both immaculate. Friendly staff nothing too much trouble. Beautiful house. Would recommend. Breakfast was lovely. House is next door to a park which is prefect coop over the road and about 15mins walk to York cathedral
Really lovely B & B. Old fashioned but delightful. Bedroom and bathroom spotless and beds very comfortable. Excellent, hot and freshly cooked breakfast, plus cereals and continental meats etc, plenty to eat! Staff were delightful. This B & B is a 15 minute walk from York Centre. This suited us as we were able to get some exercise and walk off the weekend's "excesses". If you walk into town don't walk down East Parade, cross the road outside Ascot House, walk through to the A1036 (not busy) down to Monkgate and into into the centre at Monk Bar.... easy and a nice walk. The proprietor will give you a map with these directions. Loved our two nights there, would definitely return.
The beds were comfortable. Our room was bright and airy with tea, coffee and chocolate making facilities. There is a cosy lounge to relax in. Breakfast was tasty and served by friendly and helpful staff. The only negative point is that they didn't have any fresh lemons (I don't drink tea or coffee and like hot water with slices of lemon in the morning), but they did have herbal teas available. The house is on a main-ish road but is quite quiet considering. Our room was at the front of the house and we were able to have the window open without being disturbed. I would definitely recommend this bed and breakfast and if I return to York, would book here again.
My friend and I came away for a child free night and to enjoy York. We enjoyed York but not this hotel one bit. This place was nowhere near city centre and was quite a walk so bear this in mind. It wasn't worth the price at all. This was a very old fashioned building and we were put in the room right next to reception. Barely any space in this twin room however the bathroom was pretty modern. We could hear every single conversation and check in taking place due to the poor location of this room. The door wouldn't shut properly unless we locked it with the key. So to keep locking and unlocking the door was annoying. The shower was also making a hell of a noise when on. The most frustrating part was being woken at 0650 by a bunch of guests joining the owner of the building having loud conversations and laughing in the breakfast room right next to us. We made it clear were trying to have a lie in but this was completely ignored. So zero sleep. We got up and went for "award winning" hyped up breakfast that we can only describe as basic and expected? Nothing special? When we checked out the owner dismissed our feedback of the loud early morning wake up saying "it wasn't 0630,it was 0730"....that's OK then I guess (even though it was untrue as I went out to make it clear we were trying to sleep at 0710). No apologies. Nothing. Wouldn't stay again. Absolutely not worth the money. …
Family birthday weekend. Great place to stay. Lounge was great for evening get togethers. Excellent cooked breakfasts with fresh fruit available. June very helpful with cake deliveries etc This place is class.
