I stayed here for only one night but it turned out to be a wonderful experience from first to last. Middlethorpe is a lovely 17th century home and I felt privileged to stay there. The house is so elegant and the gardens are a marvel. Best of all the staff were delightful. A huge treat - thank you.

The hotel, the rooms, the grounds, the staff, the restaurant - all excellent. The staff especially are very well trained, enthusiastic, attentive people. But if you have mobility problems you will find the hotel difficult to access, even though the staff are as helpful as they can be, getting a ramp etc. The car park is across the road. The...

Lovely afternoon tea in a grand room. The food was well presented and staff were friendly. Only slight improvement would be to have a few more staff around as we had to wait a while before being attended to

We stayed overnight for my husband's birthday. Warmly greeted on arrival. Beautiful room with four poster and views of the garden. The gardens are a joy. Service a bit slow that evening. We waited well over half an hour past the time we had booked our dinner. The meal was sublime. Rock bass with a heavenly sauce and veg. Wonderful...

Held a 2 day business meeting here last month. Great facilities, meeting rooms great but the highlight is the accommodation (I stayed in what I think were old converted stables or small cottage - either way it was fab!) and the food which was truly excellent - staff were superb, all seemed to be French which was very cool. Only...

Revisited an old favourite restaurant to celebrate our wedding anniversary. We were not disappointed. Again from service to ambience, food quality to overall experience it was a faultless experience. It remains a big favourite, but as it is special, it is a little pricey for day to day. Don't let that out you off - enjoy the lunch menu and...

I enjoyed an overnight spa break in the company of a friend which was most enjoyable and I would say first class. Based on the facilities etc. .... The spa needs to expand to fully cater for a great spa day experience, since the communal areas and pool facilities seemed too compact. The pool was cold and not a pleasant...

We stayed here for 3 nights in March to celebrate our 49th wedding anniversary. Everthing was first class and the attention of the staff unbelievably good. We had dinner each night and as the menu choice was slightly limited the Chef arranged an off menu dish for our last meal. We have booked a cruise for our 50th anniversary next...

I stayed here for one night as part of a 2 day meeting. I was really impressed with everything about this place. The situation is just so beautiful and very close to York City Centre. The staff are all really helpful and all have a really delightful sense of humour and are good fun. The rooms are lovely and you...
