Just back tonight from a lovely 2 night stay at the Elmbank Hotel. We stayed in a Superior Double Room which was one of the newly refurbished rooms in the courtyard and it was lovely! It was finished to a high standard with a safe, mini bar, AC and flat screen TV. The staff at the hotel are very nice,...

I'd love to be able to help this hotel out. It could be fantastic, but certain things let it down. For example, it's a beautiful hotel, but the Christmas decorations were the tackiest I've ever seen. The bar wasn't very well stocked, only 2 red wines by the glass - both Merlot!!!!!! Tacky music played in the bar, with a...

A very nice couple of days spent here. We were informed about the heating problems before we arrived and offered a discount and free breakfast, very happy with how this was handled. Staff are super friendly and the hotel has lots of character. It's in a nice spot and is a pleasant walk into York City centre. All in all...

Stayed with mates for the snooker in December. Got a phone call the day before we went to say eve hearing was broken and we can have free breakfast and half price. That meant we paid £27.50 for the room and it wasn't cold. Breakfast was rubbish but can't complain. It's a really good location 15 minutes walk from the...

The hotel itself was lovely. Old building which I love about York anyway. Very clean but very cold. There was no heating which meant I had to sleep in my jumper and was still cold. When we rang reception to inform them they said 'you should have been told on arrival'. Obviously we wasn't informed about it but still nothing...

We booked to stay here to visit the Christmas markets, the web site showed great images of a olde worlde hotel, and I have to say that is what you get as you enter. A lovely quaint bar, a beautiful lobby with a grand staircase and piano. Really nice staff who greet you with a smile and are very polite....

Wasn't overly impressed with this hotel. Thought it was over priced and very run down! Reception service was ok, wasn't particularly welcoming but they did have a function on and possibly bit busy! The day before we were due to arrive we had an email explaining the boiler had broken and there was no heating or hot water! Was offered...

A dated hotel but accepted the wear and tear as it was clean and comfortable. Unfortunately the boiler had broken therefore no central heating, but the staff were fantastic and provided each room with electric heaters. All the hotel staff were superb, pleasant, polite, professional and nothing was too much trouble for them. Our evening meal and following days breakfast...

Stayed for 2 nights, this is a very reasonably priced hotel, booked at last minute. It is an old building so accepted fair bit of wear and tear. Our room was spacious, no mod cons but that was ok. The room was very chilly , the problem we had was no hot water only lukewarm. Went to reception and was...
