Just returned from our second stay at the grange. Jennifer, on reception, lovely lady, remembered us and had a surprise for us. On our last stay we'd booked a superior room and had a wonderful canopied bed in a gorgeous bedroom. We'd made the same booking for this visit and Jill asked if we were having the room with the canopy again. Jennifer said 'not the same one, would you like to see it?' Jill replied 'yes please' and Jennifer took her along the ground floor to Room2, the junior suite!!!!!! It was brilliant. There was a foyer, followed by an enormous room with two sets of french doors opening onto a wrought iron balcony. The room itself was beautiful, opulent, awesome. We had a lovely evening meal, again the staff remembered us and came for a lovely chat. It was great to be back. This is a beautiful hotel, just a short walk into York centre. We prebooked the carpark at the hotel so that worked well for us. We cant wait to go back. The hotel is going to be refurbished and is closed from July to November but we will be going then to do our Christmas shopping. Many thanks to all of the staff for making us feel so welcome and upgrading our stay.

We were travelling with our 6 month old puppy. On arrival, the staff were very welcoming. Our puppy had never gone up stairs before so a staff member took our bags to the room so we could navigate the stairs with him. The room was perfect - clean and with plenty of room for the dog. The tea and coffee in the room was good, coffee bags (thankfully no instant) and fresh milk in the fridge along with water. The full English breakfast in the morning was tasty and we really enjoyed the evening meal at the Ivy Brassiere. It was also great to know that our puppy was welcome in all parts of the hotel including when we had dinner in the brassiere. The only downside was the size of the car park. It was small and you need to book a space. With the large cars of today it was a struggle to get in and out. On the plus side, there is a public car park in easy walking distance. A very relaxing, pleasant stay and I’m sure we will return.

After one disappointing Covid cancellation we finally got to visit York and the Grange Hotel last week. All our dealings with the hotel had been straightforward and charmingly polite. On arrival we were shown to our lovely room, which was huge with an equally huge bathroom and all the luxuries you could possibly want. I don’t think I can remember a better night’s sleep, the bed was so comfy. We had the Table d’hôte dinner - delicious and beautifully served, and breakfast on each of the two mornings offered a huge choice of hot and cold dishes, breads, cereals and fruits. Again, unobtrusive but excellent restaurant service.

We were ment to have our wedding here in June 2021 but due to Covid it had to be cancelled. The hotel instantly refunded our deposit and other out of pocket expensives and gave us extra on top as a good will gesture, which was very much appreciated. We will definitely be visiting in the future when restrictions allow.

We’ve just returned from a two night break at The Grange Hotel and would definitely recommend it! We were originally due to go in April but had to rearrange due to covid. In that time we’ve since had a baby so brought him along too. Unfortunately we didn’t think to ask for an accessible room so it was a bit difficult (not all rooms are fully accessible by lift) but the hotel staff couldn’t have been more helpful. They assisted with the bags and also let us keep the pushchair downstairs in reception. The room was lovely and the bed was very comfortable. Little touches such as fresh milk and White Company toiletries were much appreciated! The hotel itself is beautiful and it has a really comfy lounge area where you can enjoy a drink. We had dinner on the first night in the restaurant which was great. Ours was included on the deal we had purchased - if you didn’t have dinner included it was £32.50 for three courses which was probably a little steep but the food was lovely. The bar prices were quite reasonable. Breakfast was great on the first morning but not quite as good on the second day even though we ordered the same food. It’s table service due to Covid but with a great selection. The location of the hotel is good, approx 10 minute walk to the city centre. We also paid for parking at the hotel. Overall would definitely return but next time would request an accessible room.
