Our stay at Holiday Inn this June was very pleasant. The hotel staff were very friendly & helpful. Breakfast each morning was nice. There was a choice of foods such as. Porridge, cereals, muffins, croissants etc and you are given the choice to take these away with you or eat in the dining hall. Hot food consisted of: beans, bacon, sausage, eggs & beans and bread (there is no toaster) Our room had fantastic black out blinds and the bed and cushions were comfortable to sleep in. The shower tray was quite dirty when we first went into the room and during our 5 day stay we had 2 house keeping visits and it was cleaned in between but this wasn’t too much of an issue as I did this myself. Our main concern was the stench of the hot water and cold water coming from the tap in bathroom sink. When turning the taps on the water smelled like sewage… initially we thought it was the actual pipes but even after the initial smell starts when you open the tap, the water actually smelled terrible like sewage water. I couldn’t wash my face or brush my teeth with the water so used bottled water… not sure what that was all about but the staff member said it’s due to heavy rain and that the water could be stagnant…. Surely that’s a health hazard?? I think it defo needs to be looked into

Second stay and it was remiss of me not to do a review of our first stay. This is an excellent and friendly hotel with spotless rooms (both stays). We pop up to visit an elderly relative and it is ideal for us - it has an electric car charger but on both occasions was not working. This second visit was slightly marred by a phone as I was five minutes out from the hotel that it was only open for key workers owing to the Covid situation - that was a shock as we comply with the law in all areas of our lives. I didnt need a lecture on arrival about the law, that is clear and the receptionist demanded to know the address of the care home which I felt was too much. I was not going to put it on a list that the next person who came to fill it in could see private information. Fully understand the need to check out and a simple, 'hi, we are required to understand why our guests are wishing to stay with us, can you tell me why you are coming (from 150 miles away)' would have been fine rather than imply that the hotel was closed except for key workers. That was only a minor issue although it did wind me up and I think my point was lost in the translation, why wasnt the call made 3 weeks before when I booked? That said, we couldnt have been made more welcome by the team - they are a good crew who see looking after their guests as a given and were superb. They happily chatted where they could and remained professional throughout. I would recommend a stay at this clean, tidy and friendly hotel, breakfast isnt bad either considering the uphill climb. Well done.

Stayed here for one night on business. Room was okay - desk was really dusty so had to give it another clean as can't take too many risk with Covid situation. Bed was clean and comfy though. Check in really quick. Didn't try the breakfast as had to get on the road. Okay for a 1 nighter.
