Stayed in the Moxy York for 3 nights and overall have had a good experience. No parking is available at the Hotel however the Q-Park was a 5 minute walk away and was secure parking, we later found out also you can get 20% off the parking if you activate your ticket at the hotel reception. The hotel is modern and has lots of quirky features throughout. Seating down in the Bar area and in the Beer Garden is nice and relaxing, with several forms of entertainment available (Board games, books etc), drinks at the bar were well priced and served quickly. Check in at the hotel was nice and smooth by the guy on reception, who was pleasant and attentive throughout our stay (handsome too!) All staff have been pleasant and helpful. Our room was on the 4th floor which is lift accessible. Room was well laid out, large comfortable bed, wall mounted TV, walk in shower in the bathroom. The room was nice and clean and no issues to report, lighting was excellent with automatic lights under the bed when you get up in the night and glass shelves that have built in lights, snazzy! Lovely view of the Minster from the back of the Hotel, it was a pleasant surprise. The room had all the space and storage we needed, cannot understand people saying they need more storage space in the room (tea and coffee too) it’s not in the brand of the hotel to do this, or the room rate. Our only disappointment on this stay (and the reason this isn’t a 5* review) was the temperature of the bedroom which was always uncomfortably hot with the room being on the top floor and having sunshine on the window all day. There is a Air Conditioning unit in the room however that seemed not to make a difference, just circulate warm air. Opening the window didn’t help, as it opened from the top and barely let any air in. Would certainly stay in this hotel again (As well as any other Moxy Hotels) however perhaps would ask for a room that looks over a different aspect to hopefully get a cooler room.

Very good centrally located hotel. Multi-story car parking about 5 mins walk away at the Shambles (quite pricey but convenient), get a 20% discount when the hotel validate the parking ticket. Staff were lovely. Breakfast not great but due to COVID a difference service was operating so that was understandable, plus enjoyed eating out locally for breakfast/meals. We stayed 3 nights and I would be giving this hotel 5 stars if it was not for the lack of air conditioning which kind of ruined our trip as the room was like a "sauna" (as a previous reviewer stated) so slept badly and was tired the whole trip. Staff stated that it wasn't air conditioning as such, even though it was advertised as air conditioning, and if you have the window open with the air conditioning is on, it actually makes the room hotter. We were given advice how to reduce the temperature in the room by switching it off and opening a window to reset it but it did not work, tried on many occasions and spoke to staff twice! The room temperature was always between 25 and 27 degrees. There is little hanging space, but that was not an issue. The light under the bed comes on at night when you move out of the bed, which we did not mind either. There was tea and coffee in the room but also lots extra in the reception area to help yourself too. I cannot stress enough how the room temperature was a big issue and it needs to be fully resolved. I am sure it is lovely and toasty in winter but you don't want to feel as though you are going to pass out in summer! We actually had to prop the main room door open, when not sleeping, to get some air flow into the room - not ideal.

Staying at the Moxy in York for four nights. On our arrival I had to pay an extra £50 deposit which I will get back when checking out... now I've never had this before at any hotel.. not ideal as I always use cash so straight away I'm £50 down in spending money to enjoy my stay. Room is small but sufficient although as my better half pointed out there are no shelves or cupboards for her to hang her clothes up.. all a bit neanderthal surely. No tea or coffee facilities in the room.. apparently it's all downstairs at the reception! (where is the logic in that.. crazy.!! If you fancy a stay here remember to ask how you switch the light under the bed off.. It was on all night and my better half couldn't sleep.. On the plus side it is well located and clean.. I'll be adding another review on completion of our stay...

Great location, excellent facilities and really welcoming staff. Hotel was a few minutes walk from a range of supermarkets and also the local tourist attractions and a wealth of bars. The Staff were super friendly and polite. Facilities were great and modern.

Stayed at Moxy York in May for 3 nights as a couple. The hotel is very modern and well decorated, rooms were very clean too. We had drinks in the beer garden a couple of times, the nachos are amazing! On the odd occasion the service was a bit slow but we didn’t mind this as it was busy. The hotel is very close to york centre, about 5-10 minute walk away which is ideal! We loved the tv in the room as it was a smart tv which could connect to Netflix, YouTube etc. We had breakfast a couple of mornings which was nice and a great selection, it’s all table service due to COVID. Overall a really nice stay at this hotel, the staff were really nice and helpful- definitely recommend this hotel!
