Stayed here for one night with a friend while our husbands were on a golfing trip. The room was lovely as was the hotel bar and restaurant. We had breakfast which cost £15 as we were down before 9am. There was a lot of choice and the hot breakfast was freshly cooked and served at the table. I would have...

This is an excellent hotel only 5 minutes walk from York station. The rooms are spacious and well appointed with top range products. Breakfast offered a wide choice including the facility of ordering a freshly prepared Yorkshire breakfast rather than from a buffet.

The grand is in an ideal location for York City center and not far from the station. We booked dinner bread and breakfast for our anniversary and we were upgraded to a superior room. However, it was much smaller than the standard room we had the last time we stayed so I am not sure what was superior about it....

We spent 3 nights at The Grand in a deluxe room on a bed and breakfast basis. It really is a grand hotel. Built in the Victorian era it embodies everything the Victorians were good at. The sheer scale of the corridors is impressive in itself. All the staff we encountered were very polite, friendly and welcoming. The stars of...

I booked this as a birthday treat for myself and 3 friends. It was absolutely wonderful! The waiter we had greeted us very warmly and quickly got us a jug of water to have while we chose off the menu our afternoon tea. He explained the blends of tea and what we could have. The tea arrived along with a...

Had a two night stay with dinner on the second night. All staff receptive, welcoming and extremely professional. Check in smooth and efficient. Room was very spacious comfortable and clean with anythong that you could possibly want during your stay. Tea, coffee, water and all toiletries replenished each day. Hotel was very quiet with a sense of serenity. Whisky lounge...

Having been bought, for Christmas, a Champagne afternoon tea package at the Grand, we decided to make a short break out of this and what a super choice we made! The Grand has been turned into York's only 5* hotel from one of its many old railway heritage buildings - in this case the headquarters of the North East Railway...

I could not fault this hotel. All staff were friendly and very helpful, nothing was too much trouble. Hotel was very clean even in the swimming pool areas. Our twin bedded room was very good, quality of bedding excellent. The location was perfect, 5 mins from station and town centre. Would recommend this hotel.

Incredible hotel which stands out from the surround buildings proudly. Attentive staff and great porters! Food looked amazing but we didn't eat. It was nice to go into one of the lounges and not have to fight through crowds of people for a seat, very grown up atmosphere. Some of the furniture in the lounges did look tired and mine...
