Stayed for a couple of nights , Geoffs a friendly fella, room was average but clean, could probably do with a freshen up throughout the building, breakfast was freshly cooked and nice, shower in the room wasnt very powerful, about a 10 minute walk into the city, I'd stay there again.

Stayed for a two night break on the 30th April with my husband and friends to celebrate my birthday. City centre is just a short stroll along the river path. We were greeted by the owner Geoff when we arrived and shown to our rooms. The bed in our room was very comfy and both my husband and I slept... More

A good location, but... badly needs redecoration and refurbishment of bathrooms. The breakfast time was fixed by owner and no alternative time offered. Breakfast was fine except the only option for eggs is scrambled, which is ok if you like that. Arrival time also had to be prearranged with owner who seems to live out. I cannot understand the 4*... This accommodation is perfectly adequate. The bed was comfortable, the water was hot. Plenty of storage and the breakfast was lovely. Would have liked a choice of eggs as you only get scrambled but as i like scrambled it wasn't a problem. It's in a lovely location with a short walk along the riverside taking you straight to the centre.... More

Good location and free parking. Pleasant host. Beautiful lounge with a cosy fire and a grand piano. Reasonable breakfast. We had room 7 on the ground floor, which had a double and two singles. It was fairly cold when we arrived as only one radiator was working. Yes, the decor is a bit dated, but that wasn't a problem. Our... More

Stayed a few weeks back - the place was clean and not far from the city centre (ten munities if you walk by the canal side). The host was accommodating and has a lovely Georgian House - the breakfast was good and I would recommend this place for anybody visiting York.
