The place seems to have a black fly infestation and needs treating, I've seen similiar flies in scruffy places, didn't know what was worse the flies or staff attitude in dealing with the concern. I pointed the flies out to staff but didn't want to know !

Love to stay at the DOY, great view from room window overlooking the water & gets the sun when shining for nice & light & airy feel. Room very clean & comfortable, great en-suite with shower that works well. Room was serviced every day replenishing the tea/coffee/milk /biscuits & toilet roll as needed. Can be a bit noisy if Windows... More

This is a really busy pub located at the bottom of the steps leading to the Abbey in Whitby. The food is reasonably priced, good pub food and the location overlooks the harbour so if you manage to get a window seat the views are amazing! I'm a return visitor and will definitely go again

Called in here for a family meal a couple of times and it was always packed, had to wait a little bit for a family table, but was worth the wait, great food and wine, quick service even on a busy bank holiday! Lovely views of the harbour from the lounge area.

We wanted somewhere in 'old Whitby'... and this surely is. The pub is on the way down towards the harbour in the old part of town, at the top of the street where all the jet shops are. And the rooms are down two further flights of steps right on the harbour... walk out of your room and a few... More

Stayed over for a night out in whitby. Hotel was lovely and clean with great views over the harbour. Location is fantastic right at the bottom of the whitby steps leading to the abbey, reasonable price for the location. Only one issue the rooms have very thin walls, can here everything from other rooms.

This old Inn lies directly at the foot of the famous 199 steps, on the Cleveland Way. Our room was located underneath the Inn, with an entrance leading directly to the Old Pier, offering some of the finest views of this wonderful fishing town. The room offered the usual tea making facilities, a comfortable bed, and a large, en-suite bathroom.... More

I visit this place regularly and it only seems to get better, lovely pint of John Smiths and the best food in town and friendly staff. Seafood platter is a must, had a lot of things off the menu and all of it is fantastic! Will most definitely be back.
