We went to Cafe la Rosa on Saturday night just for dinner and drinks, as a vegetarian it's a treat to find a restaurant serving wholesome tasty veggie food these days, but going to La Rosa is so much more than just enjoying the food. These are the kind of people you wish you could meet every day, warm, kind,... More

My partner's mum booked the room for my partner and I as a surprise. She said that when she booked it, the person who took the booking was helpful and pleasant. When we arrived, the woman who we checked in with was very welcoming. The hotel is perfectly situated near the Whale Bone Arch and the harbour below. We stayed... More

My wife and I spent 2 nights in the La Rosa hotel in Whitby. Everything about the hotel is a experience from the moment you step through the door you are presented with a quirky and quaint environment, the staff are delightful and warm. I suspect the décor will be a little like Marmite, while we absolutely loved it I... More

I booked Swallow Barn for 2 nights as a birthday surprise for my partner. Looking for somewhere with a bit more character than your average B&B within a stones throw from Whitby (15mins drive), the Big Top / Coney Island themed décor didn't disappoint. We spent the evenings snuggled on the sofa in front of the roaring wood fire, playing... More

Ok, I stole the title for this review from a previous reviewer (thanks GingerLizard!) because it absolutely sums up La Rosa! It's so nice to find somewhere that has some identity. It has so much personality invested in it and the management and staff clearly love their creation and go out of their way to make your visit perfect. If... More

We stayed in the Lewis room last night and had a really lovely stay.. Cocktails in the library whilst playing records is a lovely relaxing way to spend an evening in a uniquely quirky and very cool setting. Loved the breakfast too which is delivered to the room in a little hamper... Warm cheese scones being the best bit. Also... More

We had high expectations of La Rosa, in particular the La Rosa room as several friends have visited and have nothing but praise for the hotel. So we were very excited and expected something special. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
La Rosa Hotel and Campsite aim to offer our guests something a little bit out of the ordinary. Whitbys history is full of fairytales and folklore, and at La Rosa we to embrace it's magical nature. With views over to the Abbey you can almost picture Lewis Carol sitting at the window and brainstorming on one of his many trips to the building all those years ago.... The hotel offers 8 double rooms and a three bedroomed apartment. All themed differently. You can stay in the Wild West or Arabia. Depending on your sensibilities! The campsite offers 10 caravans and a barn decorated splendiferously. Not quite glamping more like camping. There is no electricity in the caravans, leaving candle light and fires to light your way at night. ... more   less
