Stayed in Whitby many times, first time at the George. Whitby is a great place to visit and stay. Pubs restaurants and of course fish and chips. It also has a great Beach, yes Donkeys rides as well. Crabbing is a must for kids plenty of places for it. Enjoyed the stay at the George basic clean room a bit... More

Large pub/ hotel just by the station. Doesn't have its own parking bit luckily we found a space in the station car park (8£a day). Booked axrwin room with shared facilities so we were a bit worried about who and how many others we were likely to queue. Nicely surprised. Four rooms had the use of two bathrooms and showers.... Despite worn exterior of this hotel received a warm welcome and bedroom with 4 beds and en suite very clean. Unfortunately kept awake by disco in basement of hotel, noise of drunken people passing below our room and seagulls!!! If hotel installed air con could have windows shut and would have slept much better!! Breakfast fine.

When we arrived we sat down in the pub area and had some lively cheese toasties but were quite disappointed to see that those were all they served food wise apart from breakfast to guests and a sunday carvery, i feel more food should be available and would increase the stature of the hotel incredibly. Our room was the last... More

We stayed at The George for 2 nights. It is an old building on about 4 levels. We were on the 3rd floor & as there was no lift it was quite an energetic trip to our room! Some of the decor in the George was interesting with unusual colours but many areas needed some TLC. Our room overlooked the... More

I called in for a pint whilst waiting for a takeaway. The place was dead. It was 630pm and there were more staff than punters. That's ok except for the fact that the beer (Doombar) wasn't well kept or served and the bar staff were at best having the craic with each other at worst having an expletive laden discussion.... Stayed for 4 nights here. Hotel was clean and rooms comfortable. Staff very polite and helpful. Breakfast was included but as continental. Full English could be pre ordered 24 hrs notice. No complaints regarding food from me. Bedroom window was in poor state of repair. Obviously fixed a few times. Not dangerous though. Great area to explore, as did some... More

We stayed in room 4 on the first floor. The room is a twin and the beds are comfortable. However it looks out onto the bus station and they can see you! Blinds or net curtains would be good as the room curtains make the room very dark. The catch on the window was broken. The worst thing tho' was... More
